I’m blessed to have incredible regular clients but yes, taking on new people can be daunting for this reason.
I recently went to one of my newer clients, the day was windy, her horse mucked up profusely and was unable to continue the trim as a result. Not entirely her fault though not the best horse to trim other times anyway, so after I was only able to get through one hoof, we settled on a cheaper fee for the day, agreeing to come back out and finished off the trim shortly, as well as her other equine.
That person never did pay me, the amount of which wouldn’t have covered my fuel and expenses to get to her anyway. She ghosted me instead.
I do understand that times are tough at the moment, they certainly are tough for me too so please don’t book a trim you can’t or won’t pay as that actually costs us money and not only money but the wear and tear on our bodies among all the other things mentioned below.
I currently get a massage once a month, I’d get them weekly if I could. The constant strain of bending while holding the limb of a 500kg animal that’s often trying to jerk said limb away while also cutting sometimes rock like hooves. It sure takes its toll.
However, I promise I do love what I do, I love it so profusely that I wouldn’t swap it for anything. If I had endless money, I’m sure I would still do this for free.. maybe with a few more trips to the Bahamas included 🏝️☀️ 🎉
Edited to add; I'm always a bit reluctant posting these sorts of posts because its always the loveliest clients who worry if they're not being good, and the people who need to fix themselves the most who probably won't read this. Just wanted to say if you've been on my books more than 5 visits I can just about guarantee I don't mean you, and I love and appreciate all of my wonderful ongoing clients so much
