If we have lived in an almost constant state of worry and anxiety then to feel calm can be pretty disconcerting. We might also doubt we feel calm, and wonder instead whether we are not feeling anything, that weāre numb, if that has also been a part of our responses to lifeās challenges.
When we first begin to work with our body we can become practiced at noticing the signs of stress and nerves through paying attention to the particular sensations we each experience. But, itās easy to miss when our body is conveying to us that all is well, or that there is nothing to worry about concerning an upcoming situation, event or appointment.
So, just as we go to the body to find out what is worrying us, so too do we go to the body to find out when things are OK and that there is nothing to worry about. If we have an important meeting, trip or appointment and we feel calm beforehand and especially on waking, then we must learn to trust that, as it is our body telling us that all will be well.
It can be hard to trust this information to start with, but our body usually knows before time and will try to tell us whether to be genuinely worried or that there is nothing to fear.
As we become more connected to our body and we open up a continual dialogue with our body then naturally this relationship steadily changes over time. Learning to trust that our body holds her own inherent knowing, and then listening and responding accordingly, rather than letting our mind or othersā opinions and ideas get in the way or talk us out of our calm state, is a vital part of reconnecting and trusting ourselves.
Itās also a vital part of reclaiming our body as our own personal guide and friend and moving forward in a more embodied, connected and safe way.
So let yourself enjoy the calmness. It's time; you deserve it now.
