I think every oodle parent NEEDS to read this.
I'm a groomer, for over 15 years now.
I am sick of reading how people are scared to take their puppy to the groomer because they love the shaggy look. Their coat NEEDS to be combed (not brushed) so that the comb runs smoothly along against the skin.
If you can't do that, it's highly likely the groomer will have no choice but to take the coat short because it's matted.
If you think you need to wait for a certain age for your puppy to get a groom, that is crap, start early.
A) It's better for the puppy as they'll be less afraid because they just accept that this is what happens π
B) The groom does NOT have to be a haircut. It can be a cute little tidy up around the eyes, lips, hygiene area and feet, with a lovely bath, thorough dry and fluff up β€οΈ
C) The groomer can give you an idea of how to maintain the coat to avoid matting and ever needing to be shaved.
Did you know that your puppys' coat changes to their adult coat around 9 to 11 months old? During this time, the coat can (ok, I won't sugar coat this... WILL) mat with the two types of hair happening.
I cannot tell you how many times I've had to shave a dog to the skin (obviously telling the owner this before proceeding) and the owner absolutely hates it. Don't let this be you!!!
Start you pup early at the groomer. The look you want for your dog is only achievable if you stay on top of coat maintenance πΎ
