My boy 💥Kolo💥 Now 2.5yrs
He may not be the “perfect” show dog.
He may not be the ideal breeding prospect.
But to me… he’s very special.
Kolo was my first Yakutian Laika, and from the very beginning, he was the shy one in the litter. The quiet boy who hung back while the others pushed forward. And I remember looking at him at 6 weeks old and just knowing — he wasn’t going to be the easy, flashy pick… he was going to be the one who needed the most love and support from a new owner.
So I chose him.
Not because he was the best show dog, but because his heart was something special and the way he looked at me was like I was his whole world 🌎 who else would give him the time and attention needed to bring out his spark and help him to become a confident, well rounded dog? I couldn't think of any family better.
And I’ll be honest — sometimes we make decisions that might not be the “perfect” fit for our goals or needs. Sometimes a dog doesn’t turn out the way we imagined as a show prospect. But that doesn’t mean you just throw them away when things get hard.
Dogs aren’t disposable. They aren’t trophies. They’re family.
Kolo’s temperament, his gentle soul, his silly antics that brighten even the hardest days… he has a way of making life feel lighter. He has taught me resilience, patience, and the kind of love that isn’t based on ribbons or perfection — but on commitment and understanding.
My first Yakut. My once shy boy that I helped become strong and confident. The one everyone said could never enter the ring because he was too scared... Well he is my reminder that you can still succeed with work and patience. We worked hard and now he is the most confident at the show! Sometimes the “not perfect” ones often become the most unforgettable and teach you the most lessons.
And honestly? He still surprises me.
Every win feels like magic, because he doesn’t walk into the ring with pressure… he walks in for fun. We never expect anything from him, and somehow that makes every success even sweeter.
No matter what.. I love my imperfect boy Kolo 🤍💥
