To help fill the stand this weekend, Jaxon has also been busy potting up established succulents — some in beautiful ceramic pots and perfect as a low-maintenance Christmas gift you didn’t know you needed 🎄🌿

They’ll be hanging around the stall throughout the day, and if you’re lucky, you might even snag a donkey hug 🤍

What looks like a simple grooming clip is actually a huge milestone. Ivy arrived as a 14-month-old heifer who couldn’t be touched unless she was in the crush — flinching, kicking and anxious at even a glance.

Today, after just twenty gentle minutes with Vaughan and Kirra, she softened. No leads, no tie-ups, no pressure… we’ll just a little, and a lot of calm, patient handling that helped her finally relax.

Watching her stand quietly and accept care is the sweetest full-circle moment.

Thank you, Vaughan and Kirra, for helping Ivy learn she’s safe. I’m excited to work with her again tomorrow 🤎✨

Farm life has a way of slowing the world down just enough for you to notice the magic happening right in front of you. New life arrives with soft breaths, wobbly steps and the sweetest little surprises — each baby a reminder of how gentle and beautiful this life can be.

Out here, mornings start with tiny noses peeking over fences, curious eyes taking in their very first sunrise, and mothers humming their quiet lullabies. Every new calf, chick or fluffy face brings a fresh wave of hope… a reminder that even in the busiest seasons, there’s always room for wonder.

It’s a life built on nurture, connection, and watching the simple things grow — and honestly, it doesn’t get more beautiful than that. 🤎🌿🐮

This morning gave me a few extra grey hairs.
I headed down to feed the chooks and let them out for the day. Their feed is kept in the shipping container, so I grabbed some, left the door ajar, finished up, locked everything properly like I always do… and headed back inside.

But then I did a quick head count.
Someone was missing.

Pearl.

Instant heart-in-throat moment.
We’ve got electric fencing, CCTV, and honestly—no one on this planet is catching our baby racehorse anyway—so I knew she hadn’t been taken. A quick sweep of the front paddock showed she wasn’t there either. She’s never escaped, so I didn’t want to believe that’s what had happened.

The sheer panic of losing a calf… literally.

Thank goodness I retraced my steps.
There she was.
Inside the shipping container, living her absolute best life, helping herself to a private buffet. Not a care in the world. Meanwhile I’m out here planning a statewide search party.

The sooner they can’t get into this container, the better. 🐮🤎
