Happy Mother's day gifts of love can cause life-threatening poisoning to cats....if the flowers contain any Lillys!

A client got this today and because of a previous scare asked me if these are safe.

"No, absolutely not, I said.
Please put them safely out of reach or outside somewhere your cats don't have access."

Fower gifting rule: If a friend has cats *never* buy them lillies!!

Dear All,

Dr Nela here.

It is with deepest sadness that despite doing my absolute best over the last 5 years to not let
life's challenges impact on Calm Companions continuing to
support clients and pets, the industry and the community by always focusing greater good in heart and
mind:

*I need to advise everyone that Calm Companions will be gradually closing from next
Tuesday 16th May.
All currently booked appointments will still be seen by me*

*Also, for all current clients, Steff and I will still be here for you until we
help you transition to another behaviour vet and GP vet clinic gradually
and safely. *

Closure may become permanent and is due to compounding factors of
logistical financial catch 22 after catch 22 and financial DV, amongst other personal DV
struggles, and the final straw has been the repeat experience of betrayal by those closest to me that I trusted.

I started Calm Companions on the premise that our team and service
would share our truly personal, tailored, caring and family-type
atmosphere for you and your pets.

As the team has now dissolved, with
extreme sadness, Calm Companions has to as well as there is no "team".

Thank you to all of you who have never stopped believing in me, us and Calm
Companions.

While i will do my best to recover from the latest trauma to find a way of restarting, regardless, I will always be here to support all of my current clients, even if via phone chats to make plans of attending other vets while I'm unavailable.

Please never hesitate to contact me
via email, What's App and/or directly on 0431677595, and ensure to text me
if I miss your call.

With deep Saddest warm Regards,
Dr Nela Graham

Congratulations to our first puppy graduates of 2023!

Minnie and Winston learned a marker signal, positive interruptor, to respond to their names, sit, drop, stay, come, leave it, and leash walk. Behaviourally, the dogs learned to relax around other dogs which was highly critical for this class. Both dogs were very stressed and scared when they saw each other for the first time, but over the six weeks with individualised conditioning strategies, both dogs were able to train near each other and even enjoyed their first play at the last lesson.

Their owners are educated in animal learning theory, body language, training, redirective strategies, vet care, AND everyone has made it through the puppy phase in one piece!

A highly successful class overall!

If you have a new puppy or are considering getting a new puppy, we have new classes starting every few weeks. Located at our behavioural vet clinic in Coomera and run by a qualified delta-qualified behaviourist, our classes will set your puppy up to live their happiest and healthiest lives possible.

Sign for our vulnerable and mussunderstood canines!
http://chng.it/Lt7GWJnQz4

Deep down inside we all know it's wrong and you would never suppress a toddler crying or expressing their emotional state of fear and anxiety in species specific body language communication.....yet some councils, body corps and unethical "dog trainers" in this completly unregulated industry can recommend and charge people for the advice of using punishment devices.

Yet we stopped legally being allowed to smack kids how long ago??? Why?? Because we know it predisposes kids to develop serious behaviour problems later in life which affect them and their relationships.

And we fail to see the resemblance in our dogs who "explode" or "implode" due to intimidation or isolation methods of "training" by the time they reach "twanagegood" i.e. social maturity around 2 years of age.....ever wonder why the majority of rescues and and shelter dogs are around 2 years old?!
Coincidence?!!! Hardly! It's scientifically predictable!

Sign away and share to help protect our vulnerable canines who are like"zoo" animals in having minimal choices and freedom in urbanised life as it is!
