I was devastated by the news that one of my clients Ruby the Cavoodle passed away suddenly last week due to a paralysis tick. I had the pleasure of working with Ruby over a few sessions and she was a beautiful, cheeky and fun little pup!
It’s a heartbreaking reminder of how important it is to check your dog after they have been outside, especially in bushland or long grass. Here on the Gold Coast and the East Coast of Oz ticks are particularly bad over the spring and summer months.
I’ve put together some information that might be helpful for identifying early symptoms of paralysis ticks as well as some details on how to check your dog thoroughly.
If you see any of these signs or find a tick, seek help from a vet immediately.
Ruby’s family paid for a few sessions in advance and while they are devastated to lose her, they’ve asked me to pay the sessions forward to someone who needs them. So in honour of little Ruby, if you or someone you know is in need of some support with their dog but have been putting it off due to financial reasons, please reach out via DM 🙏🏽
