Feeling more blessed every day 🙏🐴
Today we had proper, much-needed summer rain here in North-East Victoria, and for the first time in years, we could simply enjoy it.
No stress about which rugs to put on.
No worrying about rainscald, greasy heel, midgies, Qld itch flareups, or flooding.
No constant checking of the weather apps in stress.
Just rain. And peace. And thankfulness.
We took an early evening walk through the bush on the property to see what it felt like after the storm. Birds were calling, cicadas humming, crickets chirruping, and to our surprise, the dry creek bed had become a flowing stream.
Tears were shed. The magic of this property really hit us. We’re so incredibly grateful to be here.
The horses cooled off, had a play in the rain, then wandered back to their hay, content.
Excited to see what the soon-to-be autumn months in our new home state will bring 🍂🐴✨

Another stunning North Eastern Victorian sunset!
A few more days and we have much needed rain forecast... hoping for rain... the complete opposite of what we did when we were in the Northern Rivers 😂🐴✨️

It’s official.
After years in the wet, humid Northern Rivers, we've relocated to dry, temperate Northern Victoria.
Saddle & Soul has been quiet for a while because behind the scenes it’s been a huge season of change - coming to terms with the unviability of running the centre in relentless wet conditions, travelling far and wide to find the right property, and finally packing up the Dulguigan centre, The Equine Apothecary, and our home.
Moving day started at 1:30am.
Horses fed by 3:30am.
Loaded from 4:30am.
Ten horses departed by sunrise, with Spike the mini arriving a few days later.
An all-day pack-up, an all-night drive, dogs, barn cats, quad bike, float - everything came with us.
47 hours awake... (not recommended 🫣)
But we’re here.
In the middle of a heatwave, but happy.
A stunning 10-acre property with gumtrees, native bush, a billabong, dam, seasonal creek, wildlife, and best of all, the horses are with us 24/7.
Four distinct seasons, far less rain, lower humidity, no flooding, and a much healthier environment for horses and humans alike.
After days of heat and unpacking, the sunsets and cool nights feel like a deep exhale.

Meet Ellie, registered name “Little Elegance,” our gorgeous dunalino Quarter Horse mare by Lil Hollywood Jac (from USA). 💫
She is a stunner with that classic dorsal stripe, golden glowing coat, and gentle nature that wins everyone over. A little collection of her moments because this girl shines in every light 🌞🐴

Tango and Joey soaking up the sunshine ☀️
They might look like twins, but their personalities are very different! These two share the same sire and were born just a month apart - they're brothers through and through 💕

They've grown up with one another since they were foals, and love to play rough when they’re paddocked together… but since Joey’s still recovering from his racing injuries from earlier this year, they’ve had to spend some time apart in separate paddocks 😞 The brotherly love is still strong though! And if you’re wondering who the mischief maker is… yep, it’s Joey! 😎🐴

Some showjumping fun this weekend at the Tweed & District Show Jumping Club Spring Showjumping Festival! 🐎🌸
We were proud to be the Ring 1 Sponsor for this fantastic event and loved watching riders and horses enjoying themselves in such great spirit. 💕

It was such a pleasure having Helz Horse and Pony Clipping visit us today to clip our sweet miniature ponies. Poor little things were already starting to sweat under their thick coats, so it was time for a spruce up! And didn't they clean up nicely! Thank you Helz, for being so good at what you do, and for being so kind to them. Next on the clip list... Pudding! 💕🐴

Spring has officially sprung!
We discovered the sweetest W***y Wagtail nest this morning... with chicks inside!! 🐣
Mama bird wasn’t far away, so we made sure to keep our distance and not disturb them.
What a lovely surprise for a Sunday morning 🐦💛🌿

Plovers. Potentially Australia's most obnoxiously dramatic, unintelligent, and annoying bird.
1. They nest on the ground in the STUPIDEST of places.
2. They swoop, relentlessly. AND have spurs on their wings, so being swooped is NOT a pleasant experience. (Maybe the spurs are a clever design strategy to make up for their lack of intelligence).
3. They make the most grating and annoying sqwark/scream/screech at ALL times of the day and night. Even the dog can't stand the racket they make.
BUT! The CHICKS! They HAVE to be the most tiny, cute little cotton-wool-fluff-balls ever! 😍😍
Too bad they grow up 🙄
