Goose’s second outing and I’m just really grateful for how he showed up. The “big pen” didn’t worry him, and he went around like he belonged there, which is all I could have asked for at this stage.
Not everything went to plan (a bit of me, and a bit of his immaturity poked through) but that’s all part of the journey 100%. What mattered most was that he came out of it with a positive experience under futurity pressure, and that’s something I’m really proud of.
To come home with a Reserve Champion in the Futurity open L2 was a little unexpected, and placing across All levels was just a bonus. It’s a nice reminder that the small steps forward count.
A sincere thank you to all the sponsors of the Reining Queensland State Championships, and to the committee whose hard work makes this show what it is. Events like this don’t happen without you.
I’m also very grateful for the support from friends, family, and other trainers — it’s something special about this sport, the way people show up for each other. 🫶
To my closest people, thank you for the phone calls and messages - always being there and for keeping me honest along the way. 🥰
And a big shoutout to Matthew Clifford on a well-deserved win — beautifully ridden mate. I know your mum would be proud! 🤍
