Neko 💙🌈 01/10/2012 - 04/11/2024
When Neko came to us at almost four years old she had been on death row twice. She was a quiet, anxious girl then. She used to growl at other dogs that approached her. She had terrible separation anxiety. With lots of love and socialisation and the companionship of her adopted sister Hogan, she became much more relaxed and confident.
As funny as she was beautiful, Neko had an incredible sense of comedy timing and made us laugh every single day. She was the queen of greySMR, devouring any cronchable snack with gusto - everything from toast to prawn crackers to her new favourite, quail heads. She could make you hand over your cheese within seconds by staring you down. She would often bless us with her sardine-scented warthog burps.
Her chatters and snappy snaps were legendary. She charmed everyone she met ("she's *so* soft!") and handled cancer treatment with grace and poise. It is incredible how resilient she turned out to be and how well she adapted to becoming a tripawd. She was an affectionate little muppet and loved morning cuddles and being scooped up by her dad.
Neko was my first dog, and what a dog she was. A glamorous goofball. A nervous little mouse who turned into the queen of sass. There will never be another hound quite like our Neeky Neeks, our boo, our land shark, our little blue kangaroo. We will miss her forever.
