What do you do when your snake takes forever to shed?

This little lady has been following the same routine for many days now, spending an entire day/night soaking in her water bowl, then the next day under her heat lamp, back and forth. When I snapped a pic yesterday to show a friend, I noticed her head stamp looked really dry.

I normally spray down their enclosures (and the snakes) once a week, which is usually plenty for our temps here in CQ. I’ve already given her a warm soak, but open to any extra tips or tricks you guys recommend! 🙌

Fingers and toes are crossed that these two have done the deed!

Odin’s still a little guy thanks to his picky eating 🤨, but I’m holding out hope the odds are in my favour 🤞
If we don’t see results this season, I’ve got a good feeling about next year!

Bad photos but couldn’t get any nicer photos of their actual set up as the female has a real nasty bite and I for one, don’t want her to fück me up any more then I have to lol 🤣🤣🤣

Waiting for the backlash in 3… 2… 1 🫠

Caught Nala and Flynn getting extra cosy. The plan was for Emmet, my mixed-blood albino Bredli, to go over Nala, but I never saw a confirmed lock. I was originally pairing Nala with Emmet and Amarni with Flynn to avoid any jag-to-jag pairings.

Turns out Emmet wasn’t that into the ladies this season… and Flynn didn’t waste a second.

Before anyone jumps in, yes, I’m fully aware of the risks of jag-to-jag. I know there’s a 25% chance of leucistics, and the rest will likely be 50% jags & 25% sibs. If any hatchies display severe neurological traits, I’ll do what’s right and make the hard but ethical call to euthanise.

These snakes have incredible temperaments and are honestly two of my favourites. Who wouldn’t want to see more of that passed on?

I really didn’t expect Flynn to seal the deal that fast 😅

Huge shoutout to Remmie and Tyson from 🐍

We haven’t known each other long, but from day one they’ve been nothing but supportive, always up for a good chat and consistently showing love to our page. I had the chance to meet them in person at the Brisbane Reptile Expo, and they’re just as awesome in real life as they are online!

What really stands out is the fresh energy they bring to the hobby. Their passion shines through not only in their fast-growing collection, but also in how they connect with the reptile community.

Maui is absolutely loving his enclosure upgrade!
I have been in decided whether I heel the twisted vine like that in the enclosures or if I attach it to the sides horizontally. He seems to love being as high as he can. That’s an arboreal python for ya!

He’s coming along real nicely. I’d be pretty keen to add a few different Diamond genetic variants down the track! For now, we have a manageable amount of reptiles to keep!

✨ Appreciation Post no.3 ✨

This week’s shoutout goes to Brodie from 🐍

Brodie has been a massive support on our reptile journey, always up for a chat, always promoting strong ethics within the reptile community, and always showing up for others.

We’ve had some great conversations about our shared goals and views in the hobby, especially about growing the hobby in the right direction and encouraging reptile keepers to connect, share knowledge, and learn from each other. That kind of mindset is what truly strengthens the community.

Brodie is the kind of person who takes on information with genuine interest, while also offering solid advice and feedback. He’s always willing to share his own experiences to help others, and that’s something I truly value.

On top of all that, he’s seriously talented when it comes to enclosure and background building, taking a naturalistic approach that makes every setup feel like a piece of the wild. I’ll definitely be hitting him up for some coaching on my own background builds in the near future!
