Diego is just about ready to head home 😁 While he’s been with us, he’s learned all the foundations for longlining — from round yard work, roller, saddle, and bridling, through to longlining first in the halter and then the bridle. We’ve worked both in the round yard and arena, and he’s now stepping out beyond the arena too 😊.

No matter what stage a horse is at, there’s always room to improve relaxation, deepen understanding, and refine communication. That’s exactly what we’ve been focusing on with CC, and she’s coming along beautifully.

Sam 💙
We’re lucky enough to have this boy with us for a few weeks. While he’s here, we’re focusing on groundwork.

Sam isn’t started under saddle, but that doesn’t lessen the importance of a solid foundation. Groundwork provides stimulation, builds confidence, and helps develop a horse both physically and mentally. A well-rounded horse starts from the ground up.

Training horses is as much about giving them confidence in different environments as it is about improving skills. Friday’s weather gave us the perfect chance indoors to practice just that, education and life experience. The rain on the roof was loud at times but they did so great and I sure was glad we were riding indoor!

For me it is also about learning — building my knowledge and skills right alongside them.

Thank you Wayne, Indian Ocean Reining, and Foxwood Farm

Cultivating try in a horse is like connecting a phone line. That first effort is the beginning of a conversation. If we ask too much, too soon or miss our timing to release and reward, the horse will quit trying and the line goes dead. Protect the try—build on it slowly, and the conversation will grow stronger.

Super proud of Brave this week, feeling more connected with our focus on rewarding try.

Even the smallest ponies benefit from regular groundwork. Short, structured sessions are a great way to build focus and encourage relaxation. Dusty has been working through 10-minute lessons after Spike, helping her develop patience and confidence to stand quietly like the little star she is 🌟

Specialising in confidence building for horses and riders.

Equine Focus Horsemanship and Coaching is owned and operated by lifelong horsewoman Jessica Panizza (Bosch). Jessica’s passion for everything equestrian stems from her upbringing with horses, which lead to her dedication to expand her equestrian knowledge. Over the past decade, Jessica has obtained numerous equine related qualifications, including a Diploma in Equine Smart Bowen Therapy, Certificate 3 in Sport Coaching (Equestrian), Coaching General Principles (Australia Sports Commission), Certificate 2 in Equine Industries and Certificate 2 in Agriculture (specialising in horse breeding), along with the completion of an Advanced Course of Horsemanship (California, USA), and courses in relation to equine behaviour, biomechanics and anatomy. Jessica’s equine knowledge combined with her extensive hands on experience uniquely positions her to assist you and your horse throughout your horsemanship journey.

Jessica has participated in multiple clinics with renowned horse trainers from Australia and the United States of America. Her knowledge of various training methods means you and your horse will benefit from a solid foundation, and she can adapt training methods to assist you with any difficulties you encounter. In conjunction with her training experience, Jessica’s background in Equine Smart Bowen Therapy, equine behaviour, biomechanics and anatomy enables her to determine whether your horse’s reactions or resistance to being ridden is influenced by factors besides training issues.

When rider coaching, Jessica will teach you the fundamentals of riding while you learn to work as team with your horse.Jessica concentrates on teaching riders to have an independent seat, soft hands and effective aids, so you and your horse can stride towards increased harmony, relaxation, and impulsion. If you do not own a horse, Equine Focus has school horses available for beginner and intermediate riding lessons.

If you have a specific problem you need assistance with, require general horse training or rider coaching, contact Jessica today to discuss what support you and your horse need to consolidate your relationship and confidence in each other.
