Yesterday Ash and Sonya got a call out and you couldn't have imagined Ashs excitement to come across this little Jans Banded Snake! The home-owners had already managed to get it into a box when they contacted us. These little ones are a mildly venomous, burrowing snake but pose very little threat to humans.

Some callouts are absolutely hectic. Not this one though. Ash headed out to Gingin Observatory & Gravity Center today to relocate a gwarder. Her biggest challenge was patience but after a while, this little fella came out of his hidy hole and moved to the new one Ash provided all by itself. Safely caught and released 🐍🐍

Our second callout yesterday was this tiny hatchling Gwardar was found in a shed by an amazing lady who was worried about its welfare being caught in a spider web under a tractor.
When snakes are this tiny they are easily caught up in a spiders Web and have so much trouble getting out.
I will post a pic of the cute little critter in comments you can see how tiny it is in a 5litre tub.

We had 2 callouts yesterday. Both for Gwardars. This video is of the release of the bigger of the 2 snakes. This one was caught just near the beginning of Cheriton Road.
Very calm catch and release of this stunning critter.
Thanks Ness for the call to go get this gorgeous snake.

Our good friend Josiah at of Si has done an amazing video about carpet pythons. Even though this is more costal, we do get carpet pythons around Gingin and other local areas.
It is well worth a watch so check out the link below.
Thanks Josiah for always being educational and helping to bring awareness for these amazing critters.

Today we had the opportunity to work in collaboration with multiple people to aid in the rescue of a land locked kangaroo in Gabbadah.
Our Tiffany who also works with Chittering Wildlife Rescue organised a group of people to head out to do our best to help the roo.
We all worked amazingly together to get the roo to safety.
With heartfelt thanks to everyone involved especially Tammy, Nina, Susan and the crew from the property, Tiff, Ash and Sonya.
Just shows what the power of people from all walks of life can do to help our wildlife. 💖

Thanks to Tiff for the call out.
This morning Ash and Sonya headed to Ashby road for a cute medium sized Gwardar. This one was inside their shouse (shed/house).
Relatively easy catch but with a U shaped beam the snake couldn't go anywhere other than in the bag. Took Ash a couple of minutes to gently entice the snake to not go up the U shaped beam and into the bag. The snake realised the bag was the better option and slid in and Ash safely bagged another awesome critter.
Sorry for the crappy release video. My camera is broken on my phone haha.

We got a callout today for a snake trying to make its way into a garage in Country Heights Estate. So Ness went out to find this awesome Gwardar. Ness managed to catch it and bag it safely and released it in a safer location. Here's a video of her releasing the snake. Well done Ness. ❤️

Ash, Sonya and Ness made a quick turnout to Mooliabeenee road to catch this amazing Gwardar in a shed. The poor fella who found it was opening a draw and this little one decided to pop its head out when the draw was opened giving the poor fella a bit of a heart skip to his morning.
Ash managed to safely get the snake into the bag with minimal effort much to the relief of the fella watching.
Ash also safely released the snake in a secluded area with lots of water and food sources.

Ash and Sonya had a really difficult catch this afternoon in Gingin.
This stunning Gwardar found itself inside a canary cage and was unable to get out. It had climbed to the very top corner of the cage and with only a small opening in the cage to allow us to be safe as the snake was at head height, we had to use some patience and bending abilities to get the grabbers in to the corner and allow the snake to basically come to us.
Once the snakes head was secured, we gently removed the snake from the cage with the use of a hook and put it in the bag.
All canaries are accounted for ❤️ and safe once again.
(The grabbers we used are safety grabbers not the older type that can cut a snake in half)
