Two wonderful days spent in our Arena Obstacles Clinic with Darryn Gilham
Zia Park School Holiday Program 1 - 2019
Our first School Holiday Program for 2019 finished yesterday, it was a huge success!
We learned plaiting and presentation for show horse in hand and ridden competitions, how to ride a show horse workout, dressage test riding and formation riding. We each rode a dressage test which Milly marked for us, and we wrote our own comments for each movement, what we did well and what needs improvement. We learned how to ride in formation and practiced movements which pushed us to keep correct spacings, ride with a partner in pairs and control our horses ourselves without following others.
We put together a musical ride which we rode in costume on the last day.
All riders, horses and ponies had a great time, learned a lot of new things even our famous Buddy agreed that it was fun to work with the team.
There are still some spots available in our School Holiday Programs later this month and more info can be found on our website here: www.ziapark.com.au
Dressage training
Riders practicing centre lines and halts in a group. We use the unfenced 20 x 40 arena to train young eventers as they sometimes have to ride in this sized arena in the middle of a paddock at competitions.
Learning how to ride over trotting poles
We learned how to keep our balance and good position over poles at camp. Good ponies, Scooter and Cookie!
Look Mum, NO HANDS!
Riders learned to trot with good balance at camp on the lunge without holding on to the reins.
School holiday fun at Zia Park
Day 2 of Zia Park's school holiday program. Everyone learning school figures, good position, steering and trotting with a bit of help from their able leaders.
Bonnie and Lillie scorching around the cross country at Murray this afternoon. Thanks so much to the hard working committee for putting on this super event.
