It turns out that ferrets know just how much fun ball pits are — or packing peanuts in this case — as proven by this video!

Flat ferreties! We're very proud of Uncle Zombies first working litter, they will be kept on as breeders and workers to help keep precious working genetics alive and strong. They will turn 3 months of age in almost a week and are fighting fit, very strong and show a lot of drive. Our jill is Uncle Zombie's Sedna, then we have the boys, Uncle Zombie's Woden (Bandit), Uncle Zombie's Kokica (Popcorn) and Uncle Zombie's Nodens (middle child lol)

FERRET DENTAL HEALTH

We hear so much about modern dogs and cats needing dentals, but we forget about ferrets! Processed diets can easily cause the same tartar and gum disease as we see in our other furry friends. Ferrets have teeth designed to tear into meat, and molars designed to shear off connective tissue and muscle. NEVER feed Greenies, or other dog/cat dental products to your ferrets they are not designed for their digestive system and you risk obstructions or upset stomachs. Chicken wings and necks are a great start and a good part of a raw diet. Larger cleaned bones can be given to be picked at then removed when done, remember ALWAYS RAW to prevent splintering that the cooking process encourages in bone. Happy shiny ferret teefs!

I've had a few questions about female ferrets. If your female is not desexed and looks like this photo she needs to be put with a desexed male or contact your veterinarian ASAP for a hormone shot if possible. They will not ovulate until put with a male, and this is what pulls them 'out of heat'. If your female remains on heat or is mated late she may die from anaemia or infection, the oestrogen levels from being on heat prevent bone marrow cells dividing normally which means decreased levels of platelets, red blood cells and white blood cells. If you are not breeding to help the species please desex your little girls ASAP!

George Clooney our deaf rescue ferret is currently at the vet for a dental! Poor bu**er has a few very sore teeth that may need removing and tartar to clean. Please make sure you keep an eye on your ferrets teeth as they too can suffer from poor dental hygiene, especially on processed diets. Our other 15 raw raised have pearly whites while George is suffering the fate of the modern companion animal.
