As one chapter closes, a wild new one begins! Next week marks the end of a massive era for me. After six years of absolute dedication, grit, and more love than I can put into words, I’ve decided to hang up the keys to Harris Place. For the first time in over half a decade, I’m putting my own well-being first.
It’s crazy to think it’s been six years of retraining, pre-training, breaking, and a whole lot of problem-solving. Honestly, I’m just so incredibly grateful to have been a part of over 1,000 journeys with horses and their owners. What started as a tiny setup with 6 clients turned into a massive facility with 25 horses in work at once—it’s been a total whirlwind!
I am so pumped for what’s next, even if it’s a bit of a mystery to some. I’m finishing off my Psychology studies with the goal of opening a rehab centre. Over the last year, I’ve been juggling the books and the horses, and I’ve realised the person I’m becoming is totally pulled toward this new path. Between October and April alone, we had over 100 horses through the gates—no wonder I’m feeling a bit like a squeezed lemon!
Huge thanks to my horse family and my parents for always having my back. To Lily and Lisa—you’ve been there since day dot and honestly, without you, I’m pretty sure I would’ve gone completely crackers.
To my mentor and boss, Marty Leacy: Thank you for the endless hours you put into my education and development. You gave me everything and you owe me nothing. I’m so glad our friendship is coming interstate with me! And to the lovely Ebony Porter—one of the best horsewomen I’ve ever met. 17 years of friendship and working together has been a total blast. Thank you for being my emotional rock.
To my legends of sponsors: Woodlglen International, Tess, and Wendy—you’re basically family now. Thank you for believing in me and letting me ride (and breed!) some of the best horses in the country. I’ve got a rising three-year-old that I hope will help me find my love for riding just for me again. When you spend all day on everyone else’s horses, you kind of forget why you loved it in the first place!
To Nikki at Ped Bits and the crew at Hewitt & Whitty Winchelsea—you guys are the best locals a girl could ask for.
To every client who trusted me with their heart-horses: thank you. Without you, there was no Harris Place. But the truth is, I’m physically, emotionally, and mentally drained. I’m so ready for a challenge that represents who I am now.
I’m moving interstate, so I won’t be here physically, but the page stays open and I’m always down for a chat or to support anyone who needs it. If you need a trainer I’d trust with my life (and my horses), check these legends out:
💜 L.C Equestrian (Lily Cameron)
💜 Ebony Layla Horsemanship (Ebony Porter)
💜 Equine Performance (Mads Lee)
💜 Stannaway Pre-training and Breaking (Anita and Bryce)
Leacy stables ( Marty & Ophelie )
Clifford hill ( Simon Tainsh )
Thanks for coming on this crazy ride with me. For now, that’s all folks! 😃😃💜"
