The irony of people lining up and paying to see animals in enclosures at the zoo, only to have an absolute meltdown when a wild animal dares to come and say hello at the café! 😂

The screaming, yelling and outrage directed at the poor old bin chickens is something to behold.

Apparently we love wildlife… just as long as it stays behind a fence and doesn’t interrupt our lunch. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Personally, I think the ibis have the better understanding of what a zoo should be. 🐦😂

🚨 RESCUE CALL… WITH A PLOT TWIST! 🦜🏠😂

I got called out to Lewiston after little Squish, a young lorikeet, decided to take himself on an adventure.

His very determined human managed to get herself up onto the roof to coax him down… and with a little encouragement, Squish finally decided to cooperate.

Success! 🎉

There was just one small problem…

Squish was safely down. His human was not. 😂

So somehow my bird rescue turned into a human roof rescue, with me helping her back down while holding the culprit responsible for the whole situation. 🦜🤣

Squish was safely popped into his cage, received some fresh bottlebrush as a reward for eventually making a good life choice 🌺😂 and, most importantly, was reunited with his very relieved mama. ❤️

Just another completely normal day in wildlife rescue.

A beautiful surprise today 💛

I went to pick up feed for the animals and discovered that a very kind person had phoned the feed store and put $100 towards our feed bill. 🥹🦆🐦💛

I honestly can’t tell you how much gestures like this mean. Every dollar goes directly towards feeding and caring for the animals that come through Elwood Sanctuary.

If anyone else would ever like to help, you can simply ring the feed store and put any amount towards our account. Even a few dollars makes a difference and it all adds up.

To the beautiful person who donated the $100 — thank you so, so much. You absolutely made my day and helped a whole lot of little mouths at the same time. ❤️
