Wowzers! What a day!!! 38 degrees and I am sure it was only going to get hotter by later afternoon but we didn’t hang around to find out!!!😵‍💫
Absolutely thrilled when Ella was awarded BEST BIRD IN SHOW with her lovely young homebred Rhode Island Red cockeral. I keep getting knocked off by the kids, love it! 🙌🤣
We all came home with a sash or 2.. results as follows ⬇️
Best Junior Bird in Show & Bird of Show was Ella’s RIR cockeral.
Reserve Junior Bird was Benjamin’s bantam
Modern Game pullet (Peacocks daughter ❤️)
Champion Large Senior Bird was my lovely homebred standard black Orpington cockerel

I was quite nervous about showing birds in that kind of heat so we were all on high alert watching for any heat stress amongst the teams. We did eventually pop Ella’s RIR in the car with some aircon but surprisingly all the birds didn’t seem to phased…🤷‍♀️
I think we will have a bit of a break for a couple of months and concentrate on working on our grower pens and hopefully future show winners.. 🤞🙌❤️

I feel awful today..😞 We lost our beautiful ‘Bluey’ yesterday to a hawk attack. My fault as I let her and some friends out for a quick pick of greens and the hawk must of been watching..it happened so quickly! She was one of Ella’s favourite birds and she had showed her for the past 3 years with great success. Such a sweet little bird that will be missed both from our show team and our breeding pens..😞 Luckily I have 3 of her daughters we are currently growing out to carry on her legacy..❤️

We had a lovely day and the weather was perfect for showing birds..
It was a real struggle to find a soft feather bird in our pens that weren’t in varied degrees of moulting so we just took out mostly youngsters that were not fully developed but rather give them some pen experience ✔️
Most birds were carded but our major wins were ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
Champion Junior Bird in Show with Ella’s home bred Rhode Island Red cockerel.
Champion Heavy Soft feather with a young homebred black standard Orpington cockerel.
Champion Standard Hard feather with a very young Malay pullet.
Very happy with our results and even more happy to come home with bags of feed as prizes.. 🙌🤩
