🌟Camperdown Poultry Show🌟

A little belated with our post as this show was last weekend but our lives are extremely busy currently..😅

There was a fantastic array of top quality birds penned, particularly the standard Softfeather section so I was just thrilled to of been awarded Reserve Champion Standard Heavy Softfeather and then go on to win Reserve Champion Standard Softfeather in Show! 🙌
Both Ella and myself were awarded numerous 1sts, 2nds and 3rds in some very competitive sections so we went away very happy …🤩 and I was a little remiss in not taking photos of our other birds..🫣

That is a wrap for us as far as poultry shows go, we really haven’t managed to get out this season due to a very busy work schedules. We will, however, hopefully get some more birds out to some local agriculture shows later this year ..🤞

🌟 Portland Poultry Championship Show 2025 🌟

We haven’t been out and about much this season due to work and family commitments so we were pretty excited to head to Portland and get some young birds out..🤩
Ended up being an extremely successful day for both Ella and myself..🙌
I was absolutely thrilled to be awarded Reserve Bird In Show with one of my black Orpington pullets after she won Champion Heavy Soft-feather in a really large field of lovely birds.. I am really grateful for the win that’s for sure..🙌

Ella won both Champion and Reserve Champion Bantam Soft-feather with a couple of her Belgian d’Uccle pullets and also won both Champion and Reserve Champion Large Soft feather with two of her Rhode Island Red pullets. Her winning Rhode also won the annual Journal award of Best RIR in the shed which she was very excited about..🤩 Ella finished up winning Reserve Champion Junior Bird In Show 🏆
A very successful day but everyone is glad to be home after such a big day ✅

We have available some exceptional Bantam Modern Game birds available as follows-

1 x Quad Black/Reds consisting of a first year c**k bird who won Junior Champion Bird in Show at every show he attended (4) Exceptionally bred and you won’t get much better than him! He comes with 3 lovely pullets with the option of some first year hens. Always handled by my son but sadly my son is struggling for time so we have decided to let these beautiful birds go..😞

1 x Trio Blue/Reds. This trio is from the same breeder as above but we never managed to show any. Will produce top quality birds.

Wowzers! What a day!!! 38 degrees and I am sure it was only going to get hotter by later afternoon but we didn’t hang around to find out!!!😵‍💫
Absolutely thrilled when Ella was awarded BEST BIRD IN SHOW with her lovely young homebred Rhode Island Red c**keral. I keep getting knocked off by the kids, love it! 🙌🤣
We all came home with a sash or 2.. results as follows ⬇️
Best Junior Bird in Show & Bird of Show was Ella’s RIR c**keral.
Reserve Junior Bird was Benjamin’s bantam
Modern Game pullet (Peac**ks daughter ❤️)
Champion Large Senior Bird was my lovely homebred standard black Orpington c**kerel

I was quite nervous about showing birds in that kind of heat so we were all on high alert watching for any heat stress amongst the teams. We did eventually pop Ella’s RIR in the car with some aircon but surprisingly all the birds didn’t seem to phased…🤷‍♀️
I think we will have a bit of a break for a couple of months and concentrate on working on our grower pens and hopefully future show winners.. 🤞🙌❤️

I feel awful today..😞 We lost our beautiful ‘Bluey’ yesterday to a hawk attack. My fault as I let her and some friends out for a quick pick of greens and the hawk must of been watching..it happened so quickly! She was one of Ella’s favourite birds and she had showed her for the past 3 years with great success. Such a sweet little bird that will be missed both from our show team and our breeding pens..😞 Luckily I have 3 of her daughters we are currently growing out to carry on her legacy..❤️

We had a lovely day and the weather was perfect for showing birds..
It was a real struggle to find a soft feather bird in our pens that weren’t in varied degrees of moulting so we just took out mostly youngsters that were not fully developed but rather give them some pen experience ✔️
Most birds were carded but our major wins were ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
Champion Junior Bird in Show with Ella’s home bred Rhode Island Red c**kerel.
Champion Heavy Soft feather with a young homebred black standard Orpington c**kerel.
Champion Standard Hard feather with a very young Malay pullet.
Very happy with our results and even more happy to come home with bags of feed as prizes.. 🙌🤩
