Our clinic has treated 5 cases of tick paralysis in the past 2 weeks, reminding us that ticks remain active despite the cooler weather.
⚠️ PREVENTION IS KEY ⚠️
Environmental conditions have meant tick season has not stopped.

The best protection is to:
🐾 Keep your pet on a reliable tick preventative year-round.
🐾 Perform a daily tick search, especially around the head, ears, neck, under the collar, between the toes, and around the tail.
🐾 Avoid long grass and bushland where possible.

Signs of tick paralysis include:
• Weakness or wobbly back legs
• Vomiting or retching
• A change in bark or meow
• Difficulty swallowing
• Laboured or noisy breathing

If you notice any of these signs, seek veterinary attention immediately. Tick paralysis can become life-threatening very quickly, but early treatment gives your pet the best chance of recovery.
