I had just finished a very quickly made tea, after we rescued an elderly adult wombat over the past few hours this evening, when we received the next call just after 7pm tonight.

A local lady had come down her road to see a tiny baby wombat on the middle of the road shaking! Unbelievable isn’t it. Unbelievable that the person who had hit this tiny little boys mum had sped off and then left him for dead. Heartbreaking really.

But this little boy was meant to be saved. He was scooped up and kept safe, secure and warm. Another precious soul will have a second chance. A very busy night indeed 😒❀️

We do not receive any Government funding for the work we do. We really appreciate any support by donating so we can continue to cover all the costs it takes to run our refuge. You can make a meaningful difference in the lives of wildlife, by supporting us and together we can continue our efforts; please head to our GoFundMe campaign here:

More than 5,000 little penguins at Phillip Island and St Kilda are set to be vaccinated against H5 bird flu next week, in what's believed to be the world's largest wild bird vaccination program.

The Invasive Species Council has welcomed the move but warns vaccination alone won't be enough to protect the hundreds of Australian species at risk.

Sadly, Jenny and Cat found a lame little wombat in our group of big bubs this morning. We’re pretty sure it’s Frankie! So we bundled her up and she is in at the Vet Hospital now. She will have sedation, X-rays and a Veterinary examination. Hopefully, we are not looking at a permanent injury here. πŸ˜’πŸ€žπŸ™β€οΈ

We need GRASS. Times are tough, with low rainfall meaning grass is harder to come by, harder to pick and my husband is not feeling the greatest at the moment. So if you see a great spot, a great place to harvest grass and have some time to spare for our wombats, we and they, would be forever grateful!! With many hungry mouths to feed, we can’t do this alone πŸ‘πŸ™πŸ˜Ž

Thankyou to a local resident Dave, for donating what just may be the Largest Crate I have ever seen!!

We may not be able to carry it, but I am sure it will be used for a larger animal here at the refuge someday! What a good man. πŸ™πŸ‘πŸ˜œπŸ‘

The most peaceful, perfect friendship. Whatever s*x they are, we have never seen a pair so bonded in all our years of being here. Bless them. πŸ‘πŸ€žπŸ™β€οΈ
