2024 Finley Open Champion MGH Rabbit

Mick and his team of dogs attended the Hypro Group annual Finley dog trial. Mick coming away with 1st in the open with MGH Rabbit and 4th with MGH Gypsy. Rabbit had an overall score of 171 over 2 rounds.

The trial was sponsored by Hypro Premium, supplying another one of their great products GAME ON WORKING DOG KIBBLE being a very sort after kibble it was snapped up pretty quickly. It was a great trial run by Finley show society good food great atmosphere.

MGH Cleo, MGH Rabbits daughter steps up for Rabbit

In her first ever dog trial MGH Cleo won the novice at her second trial Cleo won the improver and at her fifth trial Cleo has beaten her mother to win the open Championship at Murrurundi all in the space of 6 months.

MGH Rabbit won the highest score in the first rounds of the open scoring 94. Had a very tough old ewe in the final which Rabbit worked her heart out to get the old ewe over the bridge to pen with a score of 82 which placed her 3rd in the open MGH Cleo ran scores of 90 and 98 in final to win the Upper Hunter Open Championship.

Mick is very proud of how both MGH Cleo and MGH Rabbit performed on the weekend.

To say the least it was icy and wet down at Bungendore for the ASDWA Patrons trial and the Hypro NSW Selection Trial over the weekend.

Putting all the cold, wet and windy conditions aside Mick came away with a win in the NSW ASDWA Patrons Trial with MGH Rabbit and a win in the Hypro NSW Selection Trial also with MGH Rabbit closely followed by Micks other dog Mel running second.

We would like to congratulate Paul Darmody and Will Goggin in making the NSW team and Scott Smith making reserve. Together we will do our best to win the Ted Gaby Shield at the Supreme Australian Championship at Geelong in September 2024

Mick wins open dog of the year with MGH Rabbit and open handler of the year 2023. Mick was presented with the perpetual trophies at the NSW State Championships along with Tracey slater (the great Laurie Slaters daughter) winning rookie of the year by Will Goggin the NSWSDWI Association President

OUTBACK EXPERIENCE - Newcastle Show 2024

Mick Hudson attended the Newcastle show over the weekend doing a range of demonstrations with his MGH working dogs in the main arena to put on a spectacular show along side Rodney Sansom and his wonderful family and staff Oakfield Ranch, Kathy Ellem Artist, Marlie Draught Horse Stud, Em Parrott, The Newcastle Show. Rodney and his team, the Outback Experience, is a great performance with the use of all types of livestock including a camel team, bullock team, draught horse team, stage coach robbery team , donkey team and cattle drovers. It was a pleasure to be a part of this years 2024 Outback Experience at the Newcastle show and it was such a great performance for the audience.

MGH Rabbit has won the last 4 open competitions she has attended as well as the 2024 Australian Dog of the year

Rabbit’s impressive achievements commenced at the age of 3 and since then she has won the following major title’s;

- Supreme Australian Championship
- Commonwealth Championship
- National Championship
- NSW State Championship
- QLD Championship
- Australian Dog of the year 2024 + Many more open trials

Rabbit has also represented Australia against New Zealand in Tasmania in September 2022 which Australia won. Rabbit performed exceptionally well in the test series where Mick was the Captain for Australia, being the highest scoring dog from the series.

Apart from Rabbit’s great working ability she is extremely obedient without being mechanical. Mick attributes that obedient trait to why she has had so much success.

Viewers must be wondering where the remaining pups ended up?
We can tell you that after Muster Dogs selected the pups they wanted for the program Mick was left 2 Female pups MGH Fairy (White with a black ear) who was named after her great grandmother Wondara Fairy and MGH Heidi (Black and white) who was named after Mick's great niece (Heidi Land)
Mick spent the year educating these two pups and looks forward to competing with them later in the year.
