Luna is a kind, honest mare with a lovely temperament and an enjoyable riding style. She has spent the majority of her life being used for group trail rides and obstacle days where she has proven herself to be sensible, reliable and easy to have around. She has comfortably carried a nervous senior rider and is well exposed to traffic, road riding and riding in company.
Luna has also recently been introduced to cattle and has taken well to this aspect of her training. She is learning to track and fence a beast and is beginning to understand how to hold and rate one. While still early in her cattle education, she is showing promising ability and willingness to the job.
Recently, Luna has commenced more focused flatwork training and has shown herself to be a willing and trainable mare. She is beginning to work in a soft frame, understands the basics of lateral responsiveness and is proving to be a horse that genuinely wants to please her rider.
Luna would be well suited to someone looking for a versatile horse to enjoy and continue developing. She shows potential as a ranch riding prospect, western dressage mount, pleasure horse or riding club partner. Equally, she would make a lovely horse for a confident teenager or young adult wanting a safe and enjoyable horse to further their riding journey.
When ridden alone in unfamiliar environments, Luna can be sensitive to new surroundings and may become looky or spooky. For this reason, she is best suited to a confident rider who can provide reassurance and continue building her confidence. She is far more settled when working in familiar environments or when ridden with company.
Luna is an easy keeper and is good to catch, shoe, float and trim. She is a pleasure to handle on the ground and has no known soundness issues.
She does have an old splint on her offside front leg from an injury that occurred prior to her current owner purchasing her. This has never affected her soundness or ability to perform and is purely cosmetic.
Luna presents as a genuine mare with a kind nature, a solid trail riding background and exciting potential for someone wishing to continue her education. She is offered for sale to a home that will appreciate her qualities and further develop the foundations she has recently begun to establish.
