One disaster too many.
I had to reduce my buck paddock last year, after a massive tree fell on two fences. What was left of the tree, has fallen on the remainder of the paddock. Fortunately no one was injured but it has been the deciding factor in my decision making.
The universe is telling me it is time to call it quits. I will be keeping a couple as pets but everything else will be rehomed.
This mess doesn’t show how bad it really is. Quote for $2,800 to remove it.

I am so excited about this year’s pairings. After getting the cutest little doe, Ooh La La, from LaLa Licious and Loki, we paired Loki with two more first timers. Fuji and Mykeeta. Hopefully lots of hair and some great colour.

LaLa Licious gave us a single little doe today. Textbook birth, just a shame it is so wet and she chose the muddy shed. Mum and Bub are now happily snuggled in hay. Photos don’t show how gorgeous our little Ooh LaLa is. Better shot when it is dry outside.

This would have to be my toughest kidding season ever, and we only had a few in kid.
I lost a planned Scarlet baby. Also my last Grey mating. My darling Poppy developed pregnancy toxaemia. I got her through it and she had two beautiful kids. She has lost so much condition but improving. Her kids were thriving but Saturday night we lost her beautiful baby boy to snake bight.
Sick of bloody snakes.

NDs are not my thing, so, not sure.
If you want him, let me know.
He is friendly, as in jump in your lap, but Dam raised.
He will not take a bottle but loves weetbix, sultanas and fruit.
75%.
Dad is 100% ND, mum is ND x mini, so 50% and small.

This week we experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows with our kidding.
I am a true believer in following your gut, unfortunately, sometimes even gut instinct is not enough.
My gorgeous Scarlet, lost a buck kid, because I did not react fast enough and because her boy was so big. Fortunately her little doeling made it through OK, but Scarlet is not doing as well as she should be. My Fingers are crossed and with a little bit of luck and a lot of Veterinary Care, we might make it through this.
The high point of my week was the birth of my gorgeous 75%ND twins to our “lovely” Winnie. Winnie is an absolute treasure when in kid. In fact, I knew she was in kid because she let me pat her. The rest of the time she is an absolute witch with a B. She turns nasty the second she kids.
Today she did not leave my side. She snuggled, she smooched and she would not leave my side, until she brought her gorgeous twins into the world.
I think deep down she wants to love and be loved. Unfortunately, she forgets this very quickly.

I know I shouldn’t have a favourite, but I do.
Xochiquetzal became mine when her mum passed away after the C Section that saved Xochi and her sister Tiny. Xochi is my baby. I do try to hide my giggles when she pushes the grandkids out of the way to be with me.
Tiny didn’t make the grade because she whines too much.
Yesterday at 8.00am she was calling to me. I could not leave her side all day, without a complete meltdown.
So, I spent all day in the sun, other than the essential wee and coffee making breaks. Only sign of labor was mucus discharge and the usual digging and stretching.
Going by the normal indicators we could have had another 12 hours up our sleeve but, this is my baby and I knew things were not right.
Her mum died because I procrastinated, I wasn’t going to do it with her.
8.00 last night, my gut said intervene. Cervix was not dialating so her grunts and groans were not getting her anywhere.
8.30 she was in distress, so more assistance.
9.00 baby number one enters the world.
9.30 baby number two, feet only, head back but mum pushed her out before I could help.
The good news is, we have two beautiful little doelings, one happy mummy and an absolutely ecstatic goat granny.
Xochiquetzal is a silver grey. Dominant colour. One baby is identical. The Other is a silver grey with lavender and ginger.
