🤫 I’ll let you in on a trade secret: a dog becomes a trained dog with DOG TRAINING!!

😔 It’s unfair to expect a dog to not dig, to not bark, to not jump, to not pull on the lead etc etc if they haven’t been taught not to or better yet, what to do instead of the bad behaviour(s).

‼️ Dogs in Thailand have been trained to detect in people's sweat with a 95% accuracy rate, according to the head of the training program.

Do:
✅ Train for a few minutes every day. Your dog will love you for it when done correctly.
✅ Plan ahead & only put your dog in situations where they will/can succeed.
✅ Have a marker system so your dog can understand you and offer you obedience for a reward 🙂
✅ Engage with your dog; go on a walk together!
✅ Always strive to be a better dog parent/trainer.
✅ Play and have fun with your dog!

Don’t:
❌ Train once a fortnight for an hour.
❌ Use commands repeatedly, over and over and over…
❌ Let your dog rehearse unwanted behaviours - they will become the new normal…
❌ Leave your dog’s p**p on the footpath for someone else to step in 🙄
❌ Wait until your dog’s behaving badly to enlist the help of a professional.

💥 An off-leash dog fatally mauls small dog inside a Bunnings in Brisbane.
