Today we pause to remember with honour the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we now have the privilege to live as we do today. To those who made it home, we thank you for your service and dedication.

We would also like to pay tribute to the animals who also risked their lives in wars to help their humans. The horses, donkeys, mules & camels who carried ammunition, food supplies and our soldiers, the pigeons were carried vital communication, canaries who detected gas, our dogs were were used as explosive detection dogs to winged warriors and cats that were used to hunt rats in the trenches, they too play their part in our freedoms and life we so enjoy. They also raised moral and provided comfort in the amidst the hardships of war.

We think of the men and women and animals who still are currently serving to keep these privilege's alive for us - we thank you and are so very proud of each and every one of you.

As you go about your day today, whether it be 2up or a few drinks - be kind and respectful to those brave men and women wearing medals and be kind to each other. Let’s never lose sight of what ANZAC Day means.

They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun,
And in the morning,
We will remember them.

When Dee sent me this quote she made a note saying what it means to her;
"To me it's about how we think compared to others, how our brains interpret things and how we use them to educate ourselves and those around us about what we see."

I definitely agree with her, but I can also see how it can spread further than that.

When I think about this quote my mind considers every possible "attention to detail" it could be referring to. For example; I like to draw. I need to pay attention to every tiny detail of what I'm creating to make sure it has the right essence. I want people to see the soul in my pieces. Without being intentional in what I give attention to, it's just another picture on the page.

This is no different to seeing "just another dog" in the pound. When we have specific breeds come into the shelter (let's face it.. mainly staffies & mastiffs) we hear complaints about the breed and how "I don't like staffies". While (even as staff & volunteers) we have our preferences of certain breeds, we look beyond that. When we see an animal in front of us, we pay attention to the things that make them them. We actively search for their wants, needs, quirks & joys. In return we try to help them stand out from the crowd.

Our hope is to get more people to see these animals as individual beings instead of lumping them into their generalised breed. If you judge a dog by its breed alone you'll find you're only scratching the surface of who they really are and you could miss the true beauty that's right in front of you.

Just over a week ago I had to say goodbye to my beautiful 40kg American Staffy Brutus. This boy had been in the pound for over 9 months when we adopted him and he wasn't even 2yrs old yet. He'd spent essentially half of his life in a kennel, watching people look into his kennel & move onto the next. Before he passed we had numerous friends & family drive for hours to come and say goodbye, because he'd made such an impact on them. Both my parents & my in-laws were scared of the breed, but he was their favourite furry grandchild. During his vet visits we would always get asked "are you sure he's friendly?" before they did literally anything to him. We'd smile & reassure them that he was perfection and when we picked him up at the end of the day he had everyone swooning over him.

It's easy to look but not see. People looked at Brut and saw a big, male, brindle Staffy, but they didn't see his loving eyes, his gentle heart or his pure child-like innocence.

If you spend a moment to see the details in the world around you, I think you'd be surprised by what's sitting right in front of you that you haven't noticed.

I urge you to try to pay attention to the little things.. try to see with intention.. see with your heart.

- Tahnee

Welcome to Thankful Thursday, the day where we thank those remarkable people who have supported us.

We are also looking for volunteers that might be able to help Bec through the day selling things.

Hi Guys, Welcome to the week that was.

We hope you have had a beautiful Easter. It’s been hectic leading up to Easter so it was a nice change to be able to slow down a little and spend more time with the animals

🩷 We have some updates from Elsa aka Happy Jack aka Smiley

🙌 We saw lots of animals get adopted or go to rescue

🥺We had a few animals come in an appalling state from mattered to the bone to covered in fleas

❤️ We went out in the community to spend some time with the incredible team from Hume Housing

🤦 We have had some funny moments with some of the animals.

Remember to stay safe, be kind and continue to be your awesome selves.

Much love always
Dee and the team💋

Welcome to Monday Mates!

This week we've had one of our fellow pounds reach out to us asking for help.

They're a very small animal facility who have just hit critical capacity limit. Knowing the devastating reality they face if more animals are brought in, we couldn't say no.

They have sent us the photos & a brief bio on their 4 most urgent cases. We have attached their bio's to their photos.

We are hoping to find people who are interested in either adopting or fostering these beautiful creatures, or another group/s who have space to take in one or more of them.

If you're interested in meeting any of these beautiful animals, please contact our facility on 0499 900272 or email [email protected]

We ask that your comments remain respectful. Every impounding facility is drowning in unwanted/dumped animals and not all of them have the kind of support we do. They don't want these animals to be put to sleep, which is why they've asked us for help.

Please share these babies faces far & wide.

🐾Sneak Peek🐾

Please meet Scooter!

Scooter is a male Cattle x born approx 7th April 2022.

While Scooter is still waiting to have the rest of his behaviour assessment completed, we know that he doesn't like the company of other animals, so we are recommending he be in a home where he can be the spoilt only "child".

Scooter is incredibly playful and is obsessed with every kind of ball that's ever been invented. Whether it's tennis balls, soccer balls, plastic spikey balls, squeaky balls or rubber balls, he loves them all!

He's incredibly smart & eager to please.

Scooter is located in East Maitland and his adoption fee will be $475.

If you're interested in meeting Scooter, please contact CCACF on 0499 900272 or email [email protected]

Our Story

We are a dedicated team of animal lovers, desperate to secure loving homes for animals that deserve a second chance at life. We work closely with other pounds near and far to ensure as many re-homable* animals as possible can be saved. We are a no kill facility who also currently house the Central coast Pound.

Our director Dee, started in animal rescue in 2013 and is a keen advocate for responsible pet ownership, surrounded by an equally devoted team and group of volunteers, who go to extraordinary lengths to ensure all animals go to the right home. Working alongside local businesses spanning the entire Central Coast region, it is our goal to have all animals chipped and identified, while educating pet owners of the responsibility of pet ownership, unwanted litters and timely vet intervention.

100% of donations go directly towards the care of animals housed at the facility as well as transportation of animals at high kill shelters. The transport costs and unforeseen vet bills do account for many expenses and without the help of volunteers we would be unable to save as many animals as we currently do. We look forward to expanding to rescue many more animals who through no fault of their own have found themselves alone, unloved and some with only weeks to live.
