Did you know that cat coat colours and patterns are influenced by fascinating genetics? 🧬🐾
🖤 Black cats have long been surrounded by superstition and suspicion throughout history. In some cultures they were considered bad luck, while in others they symbolised protection, prosperity, and good fortune. Interestingly, many cat lovers and rescue workers often say black cats are among the friendliest, smoochiest, and most affectionate cats they meet ❤️
🧡 Ginger cats are more commonly male due to the genetics linked to the orange colour gene. They are often known for their cheeky, confident, and social personalities.
🤍 White cats can be incredibly striking, however some white cats with blue eyes may have a higher likelihood of deafness due to genetic factors.
🧡🤍 Calico cats are almost always female because the genes responsible for orange and black colouring are linked to the X chromosome.
🩶 Grey cats are often associated with calm and gentle temperaments and can range from soft silver coats to deep charcoal colouring.
🩶🤍 Tabby is not actually a breed, but a coat pattern. Many tabbies carry the famous little “M” marking on their forehead.
🤍🖤 Tuxedo cats look permanently dressed for a formal occasion and are loved for their beautiful black and white markings.
🤎 Colourpoint cats, such as Siamese cats, develop darker colouring on cooler parts of their body including the face, ears, paws, and tail.
While coat colours and patterns are fascinating, one thing matters most:
Every cat deserves love, kindness, safety, and a family who adores them ❤️🐾
Here at Luxury Cat Lodge, we do not discriminate on size, s*x, colour, breed, or age.
