This tiny little jellybean was born and fell whilst trying to make it to the pouch. Seen by a human it was put back onto mums fur....watch the video to see the end result...an amazing outcome

Rockfields had a couple of new residents arrive over the weekend.
Meet Crystal and her baby Coco. In the next couple of weeks a little black alpaca named Charity will also arrive to live with the girls.

Sadly since Christmas we've had 3 wombats hit by cars within a couple of km of our home.
There has always been the odd wombat around but more have been moving North along the Campaspe when the water is low. So if you're driving in the Eppalock area between the kiosk and Axedale or Strathfieldsaye please keep your eyes peeled for wombats and other native animals.
Hopefully the others in the district can continue their lives in peace and quiet without more losses

The weather has improved a bit so we're back out doing things again.
Managed to plant 15 or 16 new plants this week after lots of hard work digging the very dry ground. Thought I share a few photos from last year as havent taken any over the summer.

Just a bit of an update as to what we're up to at Rockfields.

Slowly but surely Rockfields continues to grow.
It's been a long hot summer where we have not been able to do much work on our enclosures due to total fire ban days (cant weld outside on those days due to fire risks) and rock hard ground....however we've welcomed two new members to the family in the last week...a gorgeous brush tail possum girlfriend for Henry and a beautiful baby boy bettong.
Our fur family will continue to grow in the future and we'll be adding feathered friends later in the year if we manage to catch up some of our workload.

πŸ’§πŸ¨ Koalas and Swimming Pools πŸ¨πŸ’§

This is a difficult post to write 😒 and I’m so sorry how sad it is everyone but am here to help educate and spread the message so it hopefully can save koala lives πŸ¨πŸ’š

This beautiful girl we named Summer, sadly drowned in a Gold Coast pool sometime overnight or early hours of this morning. The resident phoned this morning upon finding her in their pool. As we walked up the side gate, we saw this dear sweet girl sadly lying at the bottom of the pool πŸ˜₯ We assume she was looking for a drink, which is usually why koalas lose their lives to pool drownings. Even though koalas can swim, if there are no assisted ways for a koala to climb out they will eventually drown πŸ˜₯

If you own a swimming pool and live in a koala habitat area, please consider doing the following to help keep koalas safe:

🐨 tie a very thick and rigid type of rope with a flotation device attached (eg. plastic milk bottle) to a tree and placing on the pool

🐨 or even better is a decent size length of shade cloth/waterproof material/tear resistant material (koalas have sharp claws) with a floatation device attached and then affixed by rope to a nearby tree or fence. This way the koala has more surface area of material to grab onto to get to the safety of the edge of the pool

🐨 cover your pool with a tight pool cover when not in use

With this terrible summer heat and no rain that we are experiencing in so many parts of the country, please help keep wildlife safe with little things you can do. Share this message with your friends and family who have swimming pools. Thank you so much. Rest In Peace Summer girl πŸ¨πŸ’” thank you to the resident for phoning us.

Please contact your local wildlife group for any sick, injured or orphaned wildlife. If you are in South-East Queensland please call us on our 24/7 hotline ☎️ 07 5527 2444 or the RSPCA on 1300 ANIMAL
