☀️🐾 Hot Weather Warning for Pets! 🐾☀️

Did you know cats and dogs can suffer from heatstroke just like us? 🥵
Our furry friends can’t cool down the same way we do, which means hot days can quickly become dangerous.

🚫 Avoid walks or outdoor play during the heat of the day
💧 Always provide shade + fresh drinking water
🥶 Use cooling mats, wet towels or fans to help them stay comfortable

⚠️ Signs of heatstroke include:
🐶 Excessive panting
🐱 Drooling
😵 Weakness, vomiting or collapse

If you notice these signs, act quickly and contact us immediately!

This is a reminder that if your pet requires regular medications, now is the perfect time to check your supply and submit refill requests before the holiday rush🎄

Some suppliers and compounding pharmacies will be closed over the holiday period, therefore making some medications difficult to supply so please contact us with your refill requirements soon🧡

☀️Knowing When It’s Too Hot for Dog Walks🐾

Summer heat can make footpaths dangerously hot for your dog, so it’s important to take extra care on warm days!

🌡️ Avoid walking during the hottest part of the day. As a rule of thumb: if you can’t walk barefoot on the ground, your dog shouldn’t either.

🖐️ Use the 5-second rule. Place the back of your hand on the pavement—if you can’t hold it there for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for a walk.

💧 Keep them hydrated. Always bring plenty of cool, fresh water for your dog on every walk.

🐶❤️ A special reminder for brachycephalic breeds—Bulldogs, Pugs, Boxers, and other short-nosed dogs are more sensitive to heat. They can struggle to breathe and are at higher risk of heat stroke, so please take extra precautions to keep those adorable squishy faces safe🫶

This simple form ensures that both we and your pet sitter know exactly what to do if an emergency arises while you’re away - including your preferences on vet care, cost limits, and what to do if you’re unreachable.

💕The Many Roles of the Veterinary Nurse💕

Support staff are the heart and soul of every clinic and are essential in ensuring that our practice runs smoothly☺️

From comforting nervous pets to assisting in surgery, monitoring patients, and providing expert care advice, our vet nurses do it all! Their compassion, skill, and dedication ensure that your pets receive the very best care every single day🫶

Whilst we all know our nurses are expert puppy and kitten cuddlers, there is more to the nursing role than snuggling pets🤗

Our nurses are also responsible for:

🔸Hospital admissions
🔸Patient preparation for surgery
🔸Organising the surgical schedule for the day
🔸Blood collections
🔸Intravenous catheter placement and assisting with intubation for surgical patients
🔸Assisting with patient positioning for x-rays
🔸Monitoring patients whilst under anaesthetic and during recovery from surgery
🔸Client communication post surgery, discharges and handover of pets back to owners

✨These are just a few of the day to day tasks that our vet nurses perform on a day to day basis however their list on responsibilities is much longer.

Together, our team works tirelessly to make sure your pets and you have a positive experience at every visit🧡👏🧡
