🍂 Making the Most of Melbourne’s Autumn Walks (With Your Pet)
Melbourne’s been putting on a pretty good show lately - crisp mornings, sunny afternoons, and perfect conditions for getting out with your pet.
Autumn is one of the best times of year for walks, but there are a few things worth keeping in mind to keep your pet happy and healthy.
Watch the change in energy🔋
Cooler weather often means pets have more energy (and stamina). You might notice longer walks, more zoomies, and a bit more excitement - which is great, just be mindful not to overdo it too quickly.
Be mindful of what’s on the ground🍃
Fallen leaves, sticks, and the occasional “mystery snack” can be tempting. Keep an eye out for anything your pet might try to eat - especially in parks or on nature strips.
Early signs of stiffness🥶
As the temperature drops, some pets (especially older ones) can start to feel a bit stiff after rest or exercise. It’s often subtle - slower to get up, hesitating before jumping, or shorter strides on walks.
Paws and skin still matter🐾
Dry air and more time on rough surfaces can impact paws and skin. If you notice cracking, licking, or irritation, it’s worth getting checked.
Noticing anything slightly off?🤔☎️
Small changes are often the first sign something’s going on. If you’re unsure, we’re always here for a quick check.
