📢 Updated Cancellation & No-Show Policy 💔🐾

This is something I never wanted to have to write, but for the sake of my small business, I need to put this in place.

Please don't just no show, tell me you can't make it. I'm left sitting there waiting for you to come to your appointment. That time was reserved especially for your fur baby. I get paid per groom, not per hour, it directly affects my income.

This is not a hobby for me. This is my full-time job. This is how I pay my bills and care for my own fur babies. So moving forward, I kindly ask for your understanding and respect.

Please note that clients who fail to show up WITHOUT notifying me will be blacklisted. All I ask is for communication if you are unable to make it. A quick call or text makes all the difference.

❌ We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.
• More than 24 hours’ notice — no fee.
• Less than 24 hours’ notice — a $30 rebooking fee will apply.

⏰ Arriving 15 minutes or later to your scheduled appointment will be automatically classified as a no-show and the appointment will be cancelled.
To rebook, a $30 fee must be paid prior to securing a new appointment.

Thank you to everyone who supports, respects, and understands the reality of running a small business. I truly appreciate you more than you know. 🤍🐾

Let’s talk about matting & post-groom redness 🐶✂️

Sometimes after grooming, owners may notice redness, itchiness, or sensitivity on their dog’s skin. This can be worrying, but it’s important to understand why this happens.

🔹 Matting pulls on the skin
Mats are tight knots of hair that pull continuously on the skin, often in areas like armpits, belly, groin, chest, behind the ears, the behind, toes, and sanitary areas. Even if the top coat looks fine, matting can be sitting underneath.

🔹 When mats are removed, the skin is suddenly exposed. After being covered and restricted for a long time, the skin finally gets air and movement again. This can feel tingly, itchy, or sensitive similar to taking off a tight bandage or wearing tight hair for too long and letting it down.

🔹 Redness or “razor burn” doesn’t mean injury
In heavily matted coats, the groom must be taken very short for the dog’s welfare. This can sometimes cause temporary redness or irritation, especially on sensitive skin. This usually settles within a few days.

🔹 This is preventable
Regular correct brushing (line brushing) and routine grooming help prevent matting which means:
✔ Longer, fluffier grooms
✔ Less skin irritation
✔ More comfort for your dog

✨ Please remember:
Groomers do not cause matting, we remove it to relieve discomfort. Redness after a de-matting groom is not a sign of harm, but a sign the coat was already compromised. Education, kindness, and teamwork between owners and groomers help keep dogs happy, healthy, and comfortable 💛

💔 A Groomer’s Honest Moment 💔

Some days are harder than others. There are days I cry, not because I don’t love what I do, but because I care so deeply about the dogs in my care. When owners become upset over matting fees, it can be incredibly hurtful, especially when matting is preventable with the right knowledge and regular, correct brushing.

I want to be very clear: I don’t benefit from matting fees.

They exist purely because removing matting requires significantly more time, skill, and care to keep your dog safe and comfortable.

When I mention matting, it’s not a judgement. It’s a professional assessment made with your dog’s wellbeing at heart. Matting can be painful, restrict movement, and cause skin irritation, which is why it must be addressed properly.

What hurts the most is being met with anger or having voices raised at me for simply doing my job. Being spoken to harshly is deeply hurtful, especially when all I am doing is advocating for your dog with honesty and care.

I truly believe most owners love their dogs and are trying their best. Learning line brushing can make a huge difference. I encourage anyone unsure to search “line brushing for dogs” on YouTube, seeing it visually is often the easiest and most effective way to learn.

I will always choose kindness, education, and the wellbeing of your dog, even if that means some clients choose not to return.

All I do, every single day, is love your dog as if they were my own 🐾💛

This is a video of a dog whose owner advised they brush every day. Unfortunately, the coat was still significantly matted beneath the surface. This is very common when brushing does not reach the skin.

Thank you to those who support my small business with respect, understanding, and trust.

Let’s talk about the Behaviour Fee 🐾

It’s not personal and it’s definitely not because your dog is “naughty.” The fee simply covers the extra time, care, and safety measures needed when grooming dogs who are a little more challenging to handle.

Every dog deserves patience and understanding, but when a groom takes longer or requires extra support, that extra work needs to be recognised.

A flat rate of $15 may apply if your pup needs:

1. Extra time – for dogs that need more breaks, move around a lot, or take longer to complete the groom.

2. Additional handling – for anxious, reactive, or wiggly dogs that require more patience or gentle restraint.

3. Safety precautions – such as using extra safety gear (like muzzles, belly straps, or nooses)

4. Stress management – taking time to calm the dog, working at a slower pace, or adjusting equipment to reduce fear or stress.

5. Desensitisation work – helping dogs gradually become more comfortable with dryers, nail trimming, or the grooming process.

It’s all about keeping your dog safe, comfortable, and cared for.

Late Fee Policy

Please understand this policy is in place for a reason — it’s not for my benefit, but for your dog’s comfort and safety. I’m not a daycare, and I groom one dog at a time (unless they’re from the same family) to provide a calm, quiet, and stress-free environment.

I do have cages available, but I choose not to use them unless absolutely necessary — for example, if a dog owner arrives late for pick-up and it overlaps with the next booking. My goal is to ensure every dog has their own safe and peaceful space without being confined unnecessarily.

You’ll receive a 30-minute notice before your dog’s groom is finished. Please arrive only at your scheduled pick-up time, as arriving earlier or later can disrupt the schedule and affect other clients.

Late Fees:

0–30 minutes late: $15

30–60 minutes late: $30

Every additional 30 minutes: +$15

🐾 Pros and Cons of Booking with a Solo Groomer (like me)

1. Personalised care – Your dog gets one-on-one attention from start to finish with the same groomer every time.

2. Consistency – I know your dog’s coat, temperament, and preferences, so grooms are consistent and tailored.

3. Calm environment – No noisy salon, multiple dryers, or barking dogs; it’s quieter and less stressful for pets.

4. Trust and familiarity – Dogs build a bond with me, making each visit smoother and more comfortable.

5. Direct communication – You deal directly with me—no middle person—so questions, feedback, and bookings are clearer.

⚠️ Cons of Booking with me

1. Limited availability – Appointment slots can book out quickly since I handle all grooms myself.

2. No walk-ins or instant bookings – All appointments must be pre-booked and confirmed.

3. Slower response times – I may not always answer calls immediately while grooming, but I will always get back to you as soon as I can within the day.

4. Emergency reschedules – If I’m unwell or there’s an emergency, rescheduling may take time since I’m the only groomer.

5. Size and breed limits – I specialise in only small to medium breeds. 15kg maximum
