TICK WARNING!!!

Dundas and surrounding suburbs have previously not known to be paralysis tick zones. As a veterinary clinic, we would typically see one tick patient once every three years.

This month we have seen 6 patients.

Paralysis ticks are deadly. They start as a size of a sesame seed, and when fully engorged, only the size of a lentil i.e. they are extremely difficult to find!

Please be aware of the symptoms of tick poisoning which include but not limited to:
1. Weakness and wobbliness of the legs (usually hindlimbs first)
2. Unable to bark or meow
3. Difficulty breathing
4. Complete collapse

If your pet is showing any of the above symptoms, please alert us immediately.

For any cats and dogs that do go outside, please make sure they are up to date with tick prevention. There are many different products available, ranging from monthly tablets, collars to yearly injections. If you are not sure, please visit us so we can give you the correct advice.

UPDATE: Adopted! She found her furrever home the very next day we posted this. Her new family fell in love with her immediately!

Beautiful kitten up for adoption!

This 10 month old female purring machine is now available for adoption.

She has been with us for two weeks now.

So far we've learnt that she loves being patted and belly rubbed.

She doesn't appear too fond of other cats and dogs based on our observation, so ideally she finds a home without other animals.

However she is a young cat so we believe she has plenty of potential in adapting to families with existing companion animals.

She will come desexed, vaccinated, dewormed, defleaed, and microchipped.

Adoption fee is $200.

We need your help finding this cat's owners!

He is a very gentle 8 year old male cat who was brought in to us, allegedly left on a street in Guildford, in a carry cage, with the door left open.

At this stage, we do not know whether this cat was abandoned, or simply a stray cat that managed to make himself at home inside a carrier left outside for disposal.

He does have a microchip, however we are not able to reach the persons listed on the pet registry. They are not answering our calls, and not responding to messages.

The council referred this case to the RSPCA, and in turn the RSPCA, back to the council... Although we are technically not allowed to hold on to microchipped stray cats, we have decided to become his temporary carer, in case he was truly abandoned. He is currently being looked after by our caring nurses.

Edit: She has now found a home! Thank you everyone for sharing this post. Special thanks to the lovely family who have decided to give Swab a new life.

This little 16 week old stray kitten was brought in by a member of the public two weeks ago. She was riddled with fleas and a bit shy but has since opened up. She is very playful and enjoys a pat, although she is still getting used to being cuddled.

She is now ready to be adopted to a caring family.
She'll come vaccinated, microchipped, de-wormed/flea'd and de-sexed.

UPDATE: Alice has found a new home! She'll be joining a caring family and have a sister to play with ❤️🐰

Alice, a young female bunny is looking for a place to call home.

Since being dropped off at our clinic in early December, she's been looked after by one of our caring nurses.

She is described as very playful, and is well handled by humans. However she is easily scared by dogs and cats.

Alice does have a disability. She has a completely luxated right patella. This is a condition where the kneecap has dislocated out of its normal position. She was referred to a rabbit vet for a second opinion who believes Alice appears to be coping well without obvious discomfort or pain, and will likely live a normal life. Unfortunately this may have happened a long time ago, and is not able to be fixed surgically.

Alice will come vaccinated, and desexed.
