New Puppy Owner Tips: Keep Your Puppy Safe and Happy!
Happy New Year puppy lovers! 🎉
Georgia and I had an adventure today at our local café where we decided to work on some training. Georgia, my superstar, was doing great – offering attention, sitting, lying down, and watching the parade of coffee aficionados pass by. 🐶☕️
And then, enter stage left, a lady with her off-leash cavoodle puppy. The little pup dashed over to us, super excited to make a new friend. Now, Georgia is a dog-friendly dog; she absolutely adored the cavoodle. But here’s the thing – what if Georgia wasn't dog-friendly? What if Georgia was a dog that gets worried about other dogs up close? That adorable, playful puppy could have faced a scarring encounter that might have impacted them for years. 😱
We all want a confident, well-socialised puppy. But did you know confidence can be lost in an instant and can take months, even years, to rebuild? So, here are some simple tips to ensure your pup stays safe, confident, and loving life:
• Leash up! Always keep your puppy on a leash in public.
• Hold the reins: Don’t let your puppy run up to unknown dogs.
• Ask first: If you’re considering letting your puppy interact with another dog, always ask the owner first.
• Respect the 'no': If the other owner says no, thank them. They probably just saved your puppy from a terrible experience and you from years of behavioral training.
Let's all make sure our puppies have the best experiences possible. Happy training, everyone! 🐾💕

KITCHEN SAFETY ALERT FOR PUPPIES! 🐾
Puppies in the kitchen? Cute, but risky! They’re fast, tiny, and always curious. While cooking, one misstep could lead to a serious accident for both of you. Imagine the dangers: tripping over them, spilling hot food, or stepping on their little paws!

Plus, if they’re scooping up dropped crumbs, they’re learning the kitchen floor is a jackpot for snacks.
Reinforcement = habit = a puppy constantly underfoot in the kitchen. Let's change that behavior!

1) Prevent Access : Use a baby gate or puppy pen to block the kitchen entrance.
2) Teach Boundaries : Set up a comfy mat nearby. When they settle on it, reward with treats. Over time, they’ll see the mat as the place to hang out while you’re cooking! With this setup, you’ll keep the kitchen a safe zone, and your pup will master new skills in a space that’s free from food hazards. Win-win!
