We have been invited by Lewis at The Amend Project in Forbes to their League Mental Health round on Sunday 9th August. Their mission is 'Safer teams, safer communities' and are involved with many sports and teams across the Central West region.
They were awarded 2nd place in the Black Dog Ride Pitchfest, where they had an mental health idea that they 'pitched' to the National Mens Health Gathering in Brisbane late last year. They have produced many sporting items, depending on the sport, but have settled on the socks pictured below, along with their founder, Lewis.

Meet from 7:00am, leaving at 7:30am from Inland Cobra St, Dubbo.
We would likely leave by 1pm to ride home.

We're saddened to share the news that Stan Single passed away on Friday following a massive heart attack.

Stan was our 2026 Dubbo Black Dog Ride Support Vehicle Driver and had signed up for future rides.

I met Stan when he initiated the Dubbo Motor Bike Rally. The event was Stan's 'baby' and I was honoured to be asked to join his committee that successfully delivered two street events - a first for Dubbo. Stan loved his bikes and rode in locations all over the world.

If you met Stan, you'd remember him. Jude and I feel privileged to have had such an honour and to get to know him over 8 or so years.

Stan's wife Joan - and life partner of some 55 years - passed 8 months ago and his heart was broken. We miss him already, as many others do, but find solace knowing that he and Joan are together again.

Rest easy Stan. 🧑

Rotary Club of Dubbo West Inc invited us to attend a meeting to share our mission and what we have achieved locally.
We were well received, with the many members in attendance asking some probing questions about how they can help, the Black Dog Ride Grants Scheme and more.
It was also a good opportunity to catch up with a few people that I hadn't seen for a while and make some new aquaintences in the bargain.

We are always willing to attend and share our experiences.

Thank you for the invite.

Jason Dearmer (Work Health & Safety Advisor - People, Culture and Safety) from Taronga Western Plains Zoo extended an invitation to see if we would like to talk to the team around how depression and su***de can be hard to discuss - especially in the work environment. The opportunity arose during their Men's Health Week events (15th - 19th June) and they were looking for a chance to share with staff/volunteers what Black Dog Ride is. We shared some stories coming out of previous ride events and talked about possible ways to support or get involved.

As long-time supporters of our local 1 Dayer ride, we were pleased to visit the zoo and spend time with some of the team during their lunch break. Time well spent. Grateful to Jason for the invite.

Mick and Kay Harris of Mick Harris Automotive in Dubbo have been ongoing supporters of the Dubbo Black Dog Ride (plus our Mechanic) for many years. Never a question regarding sponsorship - just support all the way. πŸ™

They've had a dreadful string of events occur, culminating in their business being firebombed this week - obviously impacting their business significantly. So wrong.

Please share this post in support of them. Someone may just know something or have some footage. Thank you.

After finding ourselves in the wonderful predicament of having more volunteers than high-vis volunteer vests, Dubbo Black Dog Ride approached Totally Workwear Dubbo, who generously sponsored the full cost of 12 new printed vests (valued at around $450). We're so very grateful.

Please support those who support our work within the community.
You'll find them at 100 Erskine Street in Dubbo, or via phone on (02) 6882 8011.

We have been working on a few things recently to help make our volunteers (and our own) lives a little easier at set-up and pack-down times.

We have been fortunate to have been donated an iTechworld PS1800PRO Portable Lithium Power Station to inflate our Big Winston. We had sought out one of these to eliminate the heavy, smelly portable generator and fuel required to run the blower if a power point wasn't handy.

We approached iTechWorld with the thought of a discount, but were extremely happy when they said they would donate the unit to us due to our work in the community.

We let Winston out of the box this morning for a while and within 90 seconds he was up & ready to rock. The PS1800 would run him 24/7 for up to 5 days without recharge. It also shows how much charge is left and how much power you are using.

Thank You to iTechWorld for your generous support and kind words regarding our efforts at raising awareness of depression and su***de prevention.
