"The Midnight Escape"
Lily had always locked the barn doors carefully each night, but one evening, as she was about to drift off to sleep, she heard the distant sound of hooves thundering across the yard. Leaping out of bed, she raced outside, only to see her horse, Jasper, galloping wildly toward the distant hills.
Heart pounding, Lily grabbed a halter and ran after him. She knew Jasper was fast, but she was determined to bring him back before he disappeared into the night. Just as Jasper reached the crest of the hill, Lily called his name. To her surprise, Jasper stopped and turned, his dark silhouette framed against the moonlit sky.
He waited for her, calmly trotting back down the hill. Lily laughed, her breath ragged from running. Jasper hadn’t been running away—he’d just wanted a taste of freedom. And in that moment, Lily realized that even the most loyal horses sometimes need to feel the wind in their mane, just like the wild ones.
