I’m sure everyone has noticed the not so subtle GIANT WHITE BOX building on Bridge Inn Road… It’s soon to be our brand new, purpose built, luxurious, modern, quirky, fun, professional, fear free, state-of-the-art home! (I'm sure I can throw in a few more adjectives if I wanted).

We are excited to see our vision start to come to life and wanted to share some sneak peeks of what we have included in our build that you guys had voted for in our survey!

Turns out 96% of you consider your pets part of the family (or even more important than family!).
59% consider ‘Comfort’ to be the most important in regards to care of their pet, with 32% voting ‘Quality’.
“Cost” of course is a big factor in pet care, however only 6% considered it the most important.

Considering these stats, and the many many suggestions given to us, we are breaking away from that typical “sterile” feeling and are instead putting together a homely and welcoming space where your pets consultations and hospital stays are more akin to visiting a friend's place. Pet photographs and artworks will be displayed throughout the clinic, there will be modern ‘well-kennels’ not cages, no slippery floors, plenty of treats, and the tailored no-one-size-fits-all care that we already offer our clients.

Cats will have their own dedicated waiting area, consulting room and quiet hospital suite meeting all the criteria for a gold accredited ‘Cat-Friendly Clinic’ .

Our smaller patients (rabbits, guinea pigs, other exotics, and wildlife) will also have their own hospital suite completely separating these “prey animals” from any stress inducing interactions with our larger, noisier patients.

To ease the fears of our nervous dogs (and humans) we will have multiple indoor and outdoor waiting areas and a side entrance leading straight to a private consult room.

In addition to this we will be able to offer surgical procedures, dental work, xrays, and blood testing all within our purpose built facility!!

We don’t have a set opening date yet but stay tuned- more news coming soon.

We FINALLY have news!

For those who aren't aware; Doreen District Vets acquired a block of land next to McDonalds on Bridge Inn Road back in May 2024.
We were so happy to expand our practice and provide a much needed service to the community and were overwhelmed with the excitement from all the local pet parents, future veterinary graduates, work experience kids, and vets & nurses asking to work with us.

We submitted our plans to the Whittlesea Council Planning Department after extensive consultation with builders, developers, architects, traffic engineers and local town planners.
We thought it would be a straightforward process but we were bitterly disappointed.

For more than a year we battled for a planning permit. We fought to convince them that the community wanted a vet clinic. After so many redesigns and delays we were considering whether it was worth it at all.

Well, it finally happened. We got approval.
Doreen District Vets is building a BRAND NEW CLINIC to be open next year!!

To prepare for the opening of our clinic we will be closing down our pop-up and mobile services from December. We will still be available via email for general advice and ongoing medication needs for our existing patients, although please be patient as we are busy behind the scenes creating something fantastic.

Thank you to all our lovely clients for supporting us over these hard times. We appreciate the kind words, encouragement and empathy you have shown us over these couple years and we look forward to seeing you for many more years to come!

PUPPY SPAM!!
Little Kobe was such a chilled out boy today for his vaccination. 💉
He enjoys belly rubs, laying in water, and going for “walks” in the bottom of a pram.
We’re interested to see how long that lasts- I’m betting they’re going to need a bigger pram 🐾🐾

Buster was just a roly poly potato when we met him a year ago, now he’s a grown handsome man. 💛💛
Nothing beats watching our patients mature and evolve over their lifetimes.

Well its 2025, this is the year we build our BRAND NEW, exciting, PURPOSE BUILT, fancy, FANTABULOUS, new VET CLINIC.
We have aspirations of what we want to achieve and provide for our clients (all summed up into a Moodboard for Council approval purposes).

Just wanting to let our clients and the local area know that we will be taking a well deserved break over the Christmas period this year. We will be finishing up Friday the 20th of December and will be back open for business on Thursday the 2nd of January 2025.

We wanted to take a moment to thank all of our clients for their love and support this year. It was great meeting many of you and we could not do what we love without you all.

Fun fact: Goldfish DO NOT grow according to the size of their tank. These guys can get as large as 30cm long and live for decades. Poor husbandry and diet is what stunts their growth and leads to early death.
Do them a favour, get a bigger tank!
