Our very own Dr Jess & Dr Sarah headed to Melbourne today to take part in an in-person dentistry wet lab as part of their ongoing professional development.

The training included a comprehensive theory component followed by hands-on practical experience, allowing participants to develop their dental skills in a supported learning environment.

Weโ€™re incredibly proud to provide opportunities like this as part of our new graduate onboarding and training program. Not only does it help build confidence and clinical skills, but it also gives our vets the chance to connect and network with other graduate veterinarians from Tasmania and across Australia.

If your pet is due for a dental check-up or could benefit from a brighter, healthier smile, youโ€™ll be able to book with Dr Jess & Dr Sarah when they returnโ€”or with any of our fantastic clinical team.

๐Ÿ’• Lovely little Lola the ferret joined us in clinic for her desexing procedure.

We love seeing all sorts of animals, and it's always a treat when a ferret comes to visit. ๐Ÿฆฆ

Did you know that female ferrets should be desexed if they are not intended for breeding?
Unlike dogs and cats, female ferrets can remain in season for extended periods if they are not mated.
This can lead to persistently high oestrogen levels, which may cause a serious condition called aplastic anaemia.
This condition suppresses bone marrow function and can become life-threatening if left untreated.

Desexing helps prevent this risk, as well as unwanted pregnancies and some reproductive diseases.
Lola was a very brave girl, and we wish her a speedy recovery! ๐Ÿ’•

To finish off National Volunteers Week, we have Jess ๐Ÿ’š

Jess spends a lot of her spare time at the Scout Hall, helping mentor the leaders of tomorrow. Through Scouts, she helps teach resilience, forward thinking, teamwork, and important life skills, while also helping young people build confidence and grow into capable young leaders.

Her dedication to supporting and encouraging the next generation is something truly special, and the impact she has on so many young people in the community is incredible.

Today for National Volunteers Week we are shining the spotlight on Dr Boris ๐ŸŒฟ

Outside of the clinic, Dr Boris volunteers his time with Landcare, helping to protect and restore Tasmaniaโ€™s natural environment. His volunteer work includes replanting native Tasmanian plants and helping control the spread of foxglove, an invasive w**d that is taking over parts of Tasmania.

We are so proud of the dedication Dr Boris shows to both our animals and our environment. His hard work is helping preserve Tasmaniaโ€™s beautiful landscape for future generations. ๐ŸŒฑ
