๐ญ Increased Mouse Numbers = Increased Risk of Leptospirosis ๐ถ
With mouse numbers on the rise across our region, now is a great time to think about protecting your dog against leptospirosis.
Leptospirosis is a serious bacterial disease spread through the urine of infected rodents and other wildlife. Dogs can become infected through contaminated water, mud, soil, or even by investigating areas where rodents have been active.
Signs can include:
โ ๏ธ Fever
โ ๏ธ Lethargy
โ ๏ธ Vomiting
โ ๏ธ Loss of appetite
โ ๏ธ Kidney and liver disease
Importantly, leptospirosis is **zoonotic**, meaning it can be passed from animals to people, making prevention even more important.
The good news? Vaccination can help protect your dog against this potentially life-threatening disease.
If your dog spends time outdoors, on farms, around sheds, near waterways, or anywhere rodents may be present, talk to our team about leptospirosis vaccination.
