1966 Toyota Crown
2 litre straight six with over camshaft
Would have been a very nice car in its day and still is .
Original self seeking radio with extra controls on the back of the front seat for rear seat passengers as well as cigar lit 🔥 three on the column with I think vacuum overdrive , but still only had drum brakes without booster
And no power steering
Was originally purchased by some one in Deloraine and spent it whole life here only 63 000 miles had the engine replaced with a rebuilt one with this owner as old original engine seized solid when parked up. Loverly patina and very reasonable condition for age .

Hiace vans , engine ecu is hidden under drivers seat
Window left open and rain collects under seat and will fry ecu and cause massive corrosion in ecu board and connectors
Third one I’ve done for this customer and wasn’t able to get repaired orlocate a second hand ecu BUT Toyota has had them Remanufactured in the last six months, cost 2.5k plus
So it was decided to lengthen wiring loom and place ecu in a sealed enclosure and place between seats where it won’t get flooded again
A day plus in the work but less than half the cost of another new one

Poor old sissor lift , control cable jammed and compromised
Repair cable s as move to safer route and locat and replace fused blown in control box , Freddy to go back to work

Hi ever , had a few jobs put off / delayed because of this weather event , so if anyone needs something fixing or repaired , plenty of time at the moment, cheers John

Well customer needed a starter for his truck
Gave him a price on a new unit
No he got a second hand unit from the mainland
It looked pretty sad and asked me to check it
Brushes worn to replacement point the gear box had been filled with water and armature bearing almost sieved
Given his purchase price and repair cost and freight he would have been better off to take the new one .

Just to let everyone know know new hip is going well and I’m back at work full time . Cheers
