The moonstone is typically known as one of the birthstones for those born in June, however at My Best Friends Farewell, we use the moonstone to remember those we cared for during this month, in the hope their souls have found new life. We envision a place filled with love, happiness, sunshine, and rainbows - a serene haven where their souls can thrive.

This tribute serves as a reminder of the precious time you shared and the eternal mark they left on your hearts. May their memories be a source of comfort and inspiration, guiding you to live with the same compassion and joy they brought into your lives. ☀STAFF SPOTLIGHT☀

In this edition of our Staff Spotlight, we would like to introduce you to a key member of our team, our dedicated Cremator Operator/Pet Care Specialist.

Although not blood family, Luke is considered a respected member of the Taylor family since moving in next door to them many years ago. When My Best Friends Farewell opened there was no question who would be trusted with the crucial role in providing a respectful farewell to your beloved pet family members.

"I know how hard it is to say goodbye to a pet. They're not just pets, they're family," Luke says. "I am so happy to be a part of a process that treats them with the dignity and respect they deserve."

Although the majority of the time Luke is behind the scenes, caring and preparing your pet family members for their cremation service, he is also involved in the transferring of pets into our care and returning ashes back home. Every day, he brings a level of care and respect to work that goes beyond the call of duty. He understands that he is not just operating a machine but helping to return pets to the safety of their family members.

But it's not all about the job for Luke. When he is not at work, he is the proud husband of Sam, dad to Bellah, Tahnee & Jordan and pet Dad to B***y, a loveable Am Staff, and they love nothing more than spending time outdoors together.

If Luke looks familiar it may be that you have seen him at a local Club, Restaurant or Function, playing his guitar and singing to the crowds. Depending on your age, you may even recognise him from many years ago (he has aged a tad), as the Runner-Up on Australian Idol, with his last performance being played at the Sydney Opera House and on many a TV in homes across Australia.

We are incredibly grateful to have Luke as part of our team. His dedication, compassion, and love for animals truly embody the spirit of our pet crematorium.

A favourite part of our day is when we get to return the ashes of a beloved pet to their family. We love receiving photos of their final resting places and memorials in their special place at home. It is a constant reminder of the importance of our service.

This morning some of the team from My BFF attended the annual "Deadlift for Harry Day" in support of . Since becoming aware of Harry's story through meeting his family when they farewelled their beloved dog Oscar (which coincidentally occurred one year ago to the day), My BFF have pledged to make a donation each June in honour of this special day.

If you haven't heard of Harry's story and the heartbreaking reason behind setting up The Harrison Payne Initiative, we have attached an article giving you an insight to his legacy of safety, support and community. We encourage you to read the article and share it with your family and friends. Through the initiative, Harry's parents, Kent & Kylie, hope to promote safe driving, educate young drivers (particularly around beach and off road driving), and assist other families going through a similar experience to their own.

In this edition of our Staff Spotlight, we're thrilled to introduce you to a vital member of our team. Alongside Dee, Tahlia is a Family Liaison Officer and was an integral part in the opening of My Best Friends Farewell.

With a warm heart and a listening ear, Tahlia is often the first point of contact for grieving pet owners. Tahlia’s background is in customer service, but it's her innate empathy and understanding that truly sets her apart.

"I've always felt a strong connection to animals and their families," Tahlia shares. "Being able to provide support during such a difficult time is a privilege."

In her role, Tahlia guides families through the process of organising the cremation service, providing comfort and clarity during a time that can often feel overwhelming. She is there to answer questions, provide information, and most importantly, to listen.

When not at work, Tahlia enjoys spending time with her husband Corey and their son Saxon. They also share their home and their hearts with Saedie, a loveable Am Staff, and Honey, a crazy but much loved Sher Pei X Staffy.

We're incredibly fortunate to have Tahlia as part of our team. Her compassion, understanding, and dedication to helping families navigate their grief are truly invaluable.

As we mark the second anniversary of our pet crematorium, we want to take a moment to reflect on our journey and express our gratitude for your unwavering support.

Two years ago, we embarked on a mission to provide a compassionate, respectful farewell to our beloved pet family members. We understood the profound bond between pets and their owners, and we wanted to offer a service that honours that connection.

Over the past two years, we've had the privilege of meeting many of you and your cherished pets. Each story we've heard and each farewell we've facilitated has touched our hearts. We've laughed at your pets' adorable antics, and we've cried with you during your moments of grief.

We've also learned a lot along the way. We've learned that every pet, like every person, is unique. Each one has their own personality, their own quirks, and their own way of showing love. And each one deserves a farewell that reflects their unique spirit.

As we look forward to the future, we promise to continue providing the same level of care and compassion that you've come to expect from us. We will continue to listen to your stories, to share in your grief, and to honour your pet family members in the best way we know how.

Thank you for trusting us during your most difficult moments. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your pets' lives, even if only for a brief time. And thank you for supporting us on this journey.

As we come to the close of the first week in February, we would like to share a tribute in memory of our "Garnet Souls". Known as the birthstone for those born in January, typically a Garnet is described as beautiful and diverse. We couldn't think of a better way to describe the precious souls who passed away in January, that we had the privilege to care for ❤🐾🌈
