Dear all, our Clinic will be without a Vet for 4 to 6 weeks whilst Emma has a knee operation.

We will still be open two times a week for medication pick ups and Vet Nurse Practitioner duties. For medication repeats please call and leave a short, concise message on our answer phone system (5348 4851) or send us an email at [email protected] so we can have them ready for pick up at the below times.

We apologise that we will not be able to offer veterinary services during this time, we have tried to find a locum vet, but they are like trying to find unicorn p**p! Luckily the larger clinics in the surrounding areas (Kyneton, Castlemaine, Ballarat etc) are pretty close and will be able to help you.
To have an online consultation with an Australian veterinarian go to the following web page.
https://www.vetchat.com.au/

Below are the times that we will be open for medication pickups.

Many Thanks for your understanding, Emma, Lou, Demi and Sandy.

From Thursday the 12th June we will be open on:
TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS 9am to 12 noon.

From Monday the 30th June we will be open only on:
MONDAYS and FRIDAYS 9am to 12 noon.

LIFEWISE DOG & CAT FOOD
Is now available at the
Hepburn Vet Clinic!
We have a small range on the shelf now but can order in your required food for dogs and cats.

The Lifewise BIOTIC LOW FAT is a great alternative to the Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Low Fat for those dogs that can't tolerate fat in their diet (for example if they have experienced Pancreatitis before).
The Lifewise BIOTIC SKIN is aimed to help the Skin Allergy patient to reduce itching and scratching. For best effect this is combined with the Purple Boost Probiotic powder.

These are just a few examples of what this fully Australian made and Owned company makes.

Most of these foods have the first 3 to 5 ingredients being meat and animal products and NOT CARBOHYDRATE ingredients. The carbs are the cereal and grain fillers that lots of other foods contain. Dogs and cats did NOT evolve to eat these carbohydrate substances!!!

Hi Mummy and Daddies. We will be CLOSED on FRIDAY 29th March and reopen again on Tuesday the 2nd April for Easter 2024.

If your children (pets) are on any long term prescription medication please check and make sure you have enough for them to last through the 4 days break. If not them please ring us or email us ([email protected]) to request dispensing of more medication. We request a 24 hour turn around and pick up the next day as medications get made up at the end of the day when we have time after the clinic is closed.

Hoping everyone travels safely and has a great time out for Easter.

YAY! Now vets can legally scan the microchip of a stray or lost animal without risking the $600 fine!!! About bloody time. We have local strays but also in our town we have many visitors that come with their dogs that can get spooked, lost or escape from their BnB yards. If this happens outside of the shire council's working hours there is little chance for stray animals to get back to their owners. Facebook though is sometimes helpful for posting lost and found animals.

This means we may be able to be a conduit for the animals to get back to their owners without having to bother the council. It DOES not mean we will board or keep the animal until the owner is located as we have enough to do already! If the animal's owner can not be located then it IS the council's responsibility (or legally the person that has picked it up to present it to the council ranger or the appointed 'pound facility' for our shire, which happens to be in Ballarat as the Hepburn shire does not have a holding facility for stray companion animals).

This is a timely reminder to ensure that your pet's microchip is up to date with your details on the database. There is no use in having a microchip that is still in the breeders name or with your old address or phone numbers!!! It is not magic!

The Hepburn Vet Clinic

We’re proud to share that the Reuniting Lost Pets Bill has now passed in Victorian Parliament!

The bill will mean that all vets and shelters will be able to scan a lost animal’s microchip and immediately contact the owner, avoiding the need to send the animal to the local council pound. RSPCA Victoria has significant experience operating pounds, shelters and reuniting pets with their owner, and wholeheartedly support reunification pathways that see dogs and cats returned to owners directly.

In the lead up to the 2018 Victorian election, we advocated for changes to enable vets and other animal shelters to legally return stray animals directly to their owners without an 84Y agreement, which is why we’re pleased to see this bill passed in parliament. This will have a significant positive welfare impact on stray and lost animals while also provide a further benefit of pet registration. Pet owners, pets, animal shelters and pounds will all benefit from this positive change!

Human modified to become genetic packages that inflict lifelong pain and suffering. Australian breeders need to clean up their acts, face facts, stop chasing the $'s and actually care about their dogs and the breeds they profess to love!

In a recent ruling, the Oslo district court banned the breeding of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Bulldogs on the grounds that it inflicts harm on them, in violation of Norwegian animal protection laws.
