I performed abdominal surgery (exploratory laparotomy) on this pup last night. She had no major findings at surgery but did have severe ileus, where the motility of the gut is affected. This was most likely due to a bad worm burden which is very common in the puppies here, especially ones like this pup that was found under a house with her little mates around 1 week old.
This photo was taken this morning. She is doing so well, has eaten, toileted and should make a full recovery!
