Could your feline friend be at risk for diabetes?
Risk factors for cats include:
🐱 Obesity - overweight cats are significantly more likely to develop diabetes
🐱 Age - Diabetic risk increases with age, with diabetes being most common in cats over seven years old.
🐱 Physical Inactivity - Having a sedentary lifestyle can elevate risk.
🐱 S*x - male cats and, in particular, neutered males, are more frequently diagnosed with diabetes.
🐱 Long-term steroid use - a significant risk factor for cats is being on medications such as Prednisolone for a long period.
🐱 Medical conditions - certain medical conditions such as hyperthyroidism or chronic pancreatitis can increase risk.
