For the safety and wellbeing of your pets we would like to remind our clients to always ensure their animals are secured when they arrive at the clinic. This includes in the car park and waiting room areas.
Dogs should have a well fitted collar or harness with a lead no longer than 2m attached.
Cats and pocket pets such as rabbits and guinea pigs are advised to be in an undamaged and sturdy metal or plastic carrier. Material and canvas carriers are also suitable provided there are no tears in the material and all zips can be completely closed. A towel placed over the top of the carrier also gives the pet a sense of security and privacy.
If you are unsure of how to transport your pet into the clinic if they are injured or too unwell for the previously mentioned advice, please give the clinic a call on (02) 4261 4055 prior to your appointment and our nurses can provide you with some advice.
Following these guidelines will help to minimise stress to patients and avoid any unsafe situations.

There has been a recent outbreak of Leptospirosis in NSW.
Here at Dapto Vet Clinic we carry the Nobivac Lepto 2 vaccine for dogs.
This vaccine is strongly encouraged if your dogs are around rodents or stagnant water, if they have not had this vaccine before or had a different brand of Leptospirosis vaccine they will require two injections each one month apart and then can get them annually.
If you are interested in getting your dog this vaccine please give the clinic a call on (02) 4261 4055 and our staff can schedule an appointment for you.

Four dogs have died from canine leptospirosis, with two confirmed in the Southern Highlands and Shoalhaven.

The serious bacterial disease is spread by rats and contaminated water and can cause liver and kidney failure.

Some of the symptoms include vomiting or diarrhea and lethargy.

Dog owners in the Southern Highlands and South coast are being urged to have their pets vaccinated and to avoid letting them drink or swim in stagnant water.
