Loving your dog too much is ruining them.
Dogs don’t need more love.
They need better love.
My dogs are always my most favourite things in the world, but I respect the animals that they are, and meet their needs for their benefit, not mine.
Many owners believe that giving their dog unlimited freedom, constant attention, and unconditional affection without structure is the best way to raise a happy dog.
But in reality, this often creates stress, insecurity, and behavioural issues.
When dogs are left to make their own decisions—when to greet, when to play, when to react, when to move—they take on responsibility they’re not equipped for. This can lead to:
🫨 Overstimulation and anxiety
🤬Reactivity and excessive barking
😳Struggles with separation
😬A constant need for control
Dogs thrive with structure, guidance, and boundaries.
Giving them clear expectations and leadership creates a calm, balanced dog—not a stressed, overburdened one.
If your dog is always ‘on,’ making decisions for themselves, and struggling to settle, you may be loving them too much—without giving them what they actually need.
What do you think? 🤔 💭
