Signed into law today by President Trump - The Animal Hope in Legislation sponsored Dog and Cat Meat Prohibition Act HR 6720. A federal measure banning the consumption of dogs and cats in the United States, strengthening the work of activists and groups around the world trying to do the same.

Thank you to Congressman Alcee Hastings and Lale Morrisson, for being our continued partners in legislation. Sean Doherty, our amazing lobbyist who saw this through to the end. Shannen Doherty, who supported this initiative the entire way, accompanying us to Capital Hill to meet representatives and push this measure.

And to every activist and group who supported this legislative act, believing it was both important and necessary. When we started this, all we ever wanted to do was make a difference. Believing that this would help to bring an end to the suffering.

I wonder if you could do me a favour? Whenever you hear that someone is planning to get a cat or a dog, try to persuade them to adopt instead of buying from a breeder. There are so many beautiful, unlucky and forever-grateful pets who have been abandoned and deserve a good home. Never buy from a pet shop and always at least check out your local rescue centre. I bet you’ll fall in love. Thanks.
