Mid year intake 13 July...
This 12 month (3 days/week) diploma course is a great mix of practical and theory setting you up for a career in the performance horse industry. We've been able to offer our students access to visits from industry professionals and witness some interesting surgeries and case studies through the on campus equine hospital. We are regularly handling horses of various ages designing programs for nutrition, fitness and healthcare.

This week, students are doing confirmation assessments on youngstock, supervising castrations and dentals plus applying different training techniques to 3 seperate horses just to name a few things!

Great job by Joy this week at Pacific Coast Reining Spectacular taking home placings in some tough classes. Joy also competed in another Derby which is an awesome achievement for her and her horse 'Riggs'!

Some people leave a mark on your life.
Today we say goodbye to one of the strongest, most determined competitors I've ever had the privilege of working with.

As a Para Reiner, she faced challenges that many of us will never truly understand yet she never let them define her. I was fortunate to help train her first horse 'Cruise' to suit her needs and work together toward her goal to win a reining buckle. The pride, excitement and joy of that achievement was something special to be a part of. Little did we know that buckle was only the beginning. Through multiple hurdles and an incredible partnership with her horses she went on to achieve multiple National Championships and become an inspiration to so many within our industry.

Her achievements in the arena were remarkable but it was her determination and connection with her horses that left the greatest impression on us.

This loss hurts and was hard to hear today. Our thoughts are with her family and husband Cliff, a man who gave absolutely everything for her to chase her dreams. Thank you for allowing FHT to be a small part of your journey. It was an honour to watch her achieve so much and inspire so many along the way. You will be deeply missed Vicki.

A big shout out to Bryan and Onge from CEN Horse Nutrition for visiting our students from the UQ Skills Equine Management Diploma program last week. Whilst currently studying units in equine nutrition and digestion, this presentation was a great opportunity to gain hands on experience from our industry partners.
