The boys are loving our newest addition Hyacinth in her daily meetings over the fence, itโ€™s getting close to side by side paddock time! For the safety of all horses in the herd I always take time to introduce new horses.

Welcome to the cutest Redhead ๐Ÿ’•
We are very lucky to have the very pretty Hyacinth join our herd at Track and Thrive. Hyacinth will have a week to settle before we start integration into the herd. Needless to say the boys are very interested ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿฆ„

Shout out to all the partners ( commonly known in horse language as โ€˜horse husbandsโ€™) who support their horse addicted girlfriends, (wives or husbands ) who despite all the hard work, horse poo, wet days, mud and tears couldnโ€™t imagine anything better than being surrounded by our heart horses ๐Ÿ’•
This is Dan, feeder of hay, digger of drains, carrier of buckets, changer of rugs, holder of halters, leader of ropes and basically anything that is needed here at Track and Thrive. I did it alone before you, but itโ€™s so much better doing it with you. ๐Ÿ’•
Now I have someone who can hear me complaining about the p**p ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ’ฉ๐Ÿฆ„

Do You See ME?
By Lynette Sutton

Do your eyes see the battle scars that lay inside my past?
Do you recall the men and boys who battled to the last?
Do you see me in harnessโ€“ ploughing, harrowing a track?
Do you see little children, laughing, riding on my back

Do you see golden wheat fields that my great strength helped to grow or country schoolrooms full of kids we carried to and fro?
Do you see precious letters delivered from near and far?
We brought those too in wind and rain beneath our southern stars.

They set us free as gratitude for deeds so bold and true
We were the beast who carried you through history and new
We served you well and now youโ€™re done, you say we have to go.
So what fate now awaits us? Do you really want to know?

To spend our final days in fields close by you would be great
a place to run or graze alongside our old lifelong mate.
Not chased by choppers with a rifleman sitting above.
Is this what we are destined for? An ending without love.

The saleyard has so many horses lined up in a row
and few will see the end of day or get a chance to grow.
The world now lacks compassion โ€“ to the slaughterhouse weโ€™re sent
yet we are the beast of burden whose broad willing backs bent.

We helped to make your country; we helped to make your home
and worked for very little. Is this how you atone?

Do you see through my eyes?

We spent the day in the rain digging in the drainage for the loafing yard.
I didnโ€™t do it when I had the yard originally excavated as I wanted a full year to see which way the water wanted to drain naturally.
Itโ€™s working perfectly ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜ฌ

So many lovely trails to explore and work on liberty with horses. This morning Iโ€™m taking Billy out for a hike who actually loves his time away from the herd and having all the attention for himself ๐Ÿ’•

Horses are such herd animals, Max just had his feet trimmed and will always run, not walk back to his buddies ๐Ÿ’™
