Goodbye to Milly - 💔
18/4/2009 - 17/4/2026
I found you in a simple ad on trading post.
you were the only pup available - just eight weeks old.
A six hour drive with my girls...
and you already belonged to us!
We tried out names on the ride home,
one by one -
until "Milly"
your ears lifted,
as if you chose us too!
Red and white, soft and bright,
a beautiful spirit in motion.
Mischief in your eyes,
joy in everything you did.
You LOVED your food -
breakfast could never be late
without a bark at the front door
to hurry us along.
You loved chasing soccer balls with the kids -
though really, you just wanted the ball to yourself
Your game,
Your rules.
You greeted everyone like an old friend.
No one was ever a stranger -
just someone you hadn't loved yet.
You loved riding in the back of the ute,
the car, or even the truck -
any chance to go somewhere new
a fresh adventure.
You chased cows into the yards,
helped in the nursery,
even ran along the shade house roof
to keep the plovers away.
Whatever we did, you wanted a job -
through every chapter of our lives.
You watched our children grow,
then welcomed their children too.
They were always such a joy to you,
even as you aged -
always gentle, always knowing, always there.
Seventeen years of Love -
and now the hardest kindness...
to let you rest
where pain cannot follow.
There will never be another Milly,
no one so open,
with that face of kindness and knowing.
You were more than a dog,
You were an icon of our family..
Run free now my beautiful girl -
young again, strong again.
always beautiful..
the way i wll always cherish and remember you..
