A young girl once wrote

"A Hill We Climb"

When day comes we ask ourselves,
where can we find light in this never-ending shade?
The loss we carry,
a sea we must wade.
We've braved the belly of the beast,
We've learned that quiet isn't always peace,
and the norms and notions
of what just is
isn't always just-ice.
And yet the dawn is ours
before we knew it.
Somehow we do it.
Somehow we've weathered and witnessed
a nation that isn't broken,
but simply unfinished.
We the successors of a country and a time
where a skinny Black girl
descended from slaves and raised by a single mother
can dream of becoming president
only to find herself reciting for one.
And yes we are far from polished.
Far from pristine.
But that doesn't mean we are
striving to form a union that is perfect.
We are striving to forge a union with purpose,
to compose a country committed to all cultures, colors, characters and
conditions of man.
And so we lift our gazes not to what stands between us,
but what stands before us.
We close the divide because we know, to put our future first,
we must first put our differences aside.
We lay down our arms
so we can reach out our arms
to one another.
We seek harm to none and harmony for all.
Let the globe, if nothing else, say this is true,
that even as we grieved, we grew,
that even as we hurt, we hoped,
that even as we tired, we tried,
that we'll forever be tied together, victorious.
Not because we will never again know defeat,
but because we will never again sow division.
Scripture tells us to envision
that everyone shall sit under their own vine and fig tree
and no one shall make them afraid.
If we're to live up to our own time,
then victory won't lie in the blade.
But in all the bridges we've made,
that is the promise to glade,
the hill we climb.
If only we dare.
It's because being American is more than a pride we inherit,
it's the past we step into
and how we repair it.
We've seen a force that would shatter our nation
rather than share it.
Would destroy our country if it meant delaying democracy.
And this effort very nearly succeeded.
But while democracy can be periodically delayed,
it can never be permanently defeated.
In this truth,
in this faith we trust.
For while we have our eyes on the future,
history has its eyes on us.
This is the era of just redemption
we feared at its inception.
We did not feel prepared to be the heirs
of such a terrifying hour
but within it we found the power
to author a new chapter.
To offer hope and laughter to ourselves.
So while once we asked,
how could we possibly prevail over catastrophe?
Now we assert,
How could catastrophe possibly prevail over us?
We will not march back to what was,
but move to what shall be.
A country that is bruised but whole,
benevolent but bold,
fierce and free.
We will not be turned around
or interrupted by intimidation,
because we know our inaction and inertia
will be the inheritance of the next generation.
Our blunders become their burdens.
But one thing is certain,
If we merge mercy with might,
and might with right,
then love becomes our legacy,
and change our children's birthright.
So let us leave behind a country
better than the one we were left with.
Every breath from my bronze-pounded chest,
we will raise this wounded world into a wondrous one.
We will rise from the gold-limbed hills of the west.
We will rise from the windswept northeast,
where our forefathers first realized revolution.
We will rise from the lake-rimmed cities of the midwestern states.
We will rise from the sunbaked south.
We will rebuild, reconcile and recover.
And every known nook of our nation and
every corner called our country,
our people diverse and beautiful will emerge,
battered and beautiful.
When day comes we step out of the shade,
aflame and unafraid,
the new dawn blooms as we free it.
For there is always light,
if only we're brave enough to see it.
If only we're brave enough to be it.

Dear Councilor Smith,

Could you please advise re issues regarding Collarenebri:

1) Currently the Tennis court are in a derelict condition and can not be used by the residents of Collarenebri, Can you please tell me if this council asset is going to be fixed? if so, when is it going to be fixed? and when is it going to be available for residents of Collarenebri to use?

2) Currently the Golf course is in a derelict condition and can not be fully utilised by residents of Collarenebri. Can you please tell me if this council asset is going to be fixed? if so, when is it going to be fixed? and when is it going to be available for residents of Collarenebri to use?

3) I note that bench seating (6) have been purchased and received by Walgett council, and was due for placement in the main street of Collarenebri in November 2017, February 2018, April 2018 and May 2018. To date this seating is still not available for constituents use, with residents having to sit in the gutter or on the footpath on Wilson Street. Can you please advise regarding a date and a work order date for the placement of the purchased seats to be placed in Wilson Street Collarenebri.

4) Can you please advise on a date and a work order date for the fixing or replacement of the only 2 bench seats in Collarenebri one in Walgett Street and the other in Herbert Street. Both are in an unusable state and have been for at least two years that I personally know of.

5) Can you please advise when the shade over the public swimming pool will be installed, by providing a work order date. I was told in November 2017 that the council was waiting for a second quote to have it installed, I am led to believe that 6 months later council still claims to be waiting for a second quote.

6) Can you please advise a date, and a work order date as to when the metal joins in the current skate park "Denyer park" are going to be fixed as the children in summer are suffering 1st and 2nd degree burns due to the extreme temperature of summer heating up the metal.

7) Can you please advise a date when an adequate shade is going to be erected over the play equipment in Denyer park, as currently the children are being exposed to harmful UV rays and the current shade structure in this park shade nothing but a piece of Grass.

8) Can you please advise details of the recreational funding that has been allocated to the collarenebri recreation project, what this entails, and how much of the Enhancing Community Parks and Playgrounds $212,619 Grant is going to be utilised in Collarenebri. Could you also please advise in regards to the fenced primary playground consisting of swings, slides, and climbing frames and seating for parents and carers which has been previously mentioned at council meetings by myself and Mayor Woodcock suggestion of this play area being built in Lions park Collarenebri.

9) Can you please advise regarding the poor disrepair of the footpath on Walgett street which is very uneven, cracked with sections missing and also when work is going to commence on the placement of other footpaths with in the residential streets of collarenebri. There are residents within the town that can not utilise the paths due to unstable mobility issues and having to use walking aids.

10) Can you please advise when funds are going to be made available to beatify Collarenebri, in an attempt to boost economical growth via tourists. Currently the town is not inviting for people to stop and spend money with a large majority of grey nomads and other travelers choosing to just drive through.

These issues are really only the tip of the problems and issues Collarenbri has, but if you could respond to my concerns I would be grateful.

Kind regards

Mrs. Kate Polsoni.
resident and rate payer of collarenebri.

Well I know you haven't heard from me for a while so I thought I would say hi .

Kate's Place is closing

Kate's Place has provided the community with cheap groceries, cheap clothes, shoes, gifts, and many other cheap items.

Kate's Place has provided the community with a place to go, place to meet, place to have a free cuppa and a chat, a place to vent, a place to cry, a place to laugh, a friendly place to shop, and a place that kids can come and have fun.

We have provided food parcels to struggling families and have helped families with other things that they were in need of.

We have given back to the community with donations to homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters throughout the shire. To struggling farmers in and around Colly. To the elderly residents of Colly hospital. To the local wildlife carers, and to the local people.

We have accomplished by rallying council to have a shade cover placed over the main local pool, seating that was broken to be replaced, and seating to be put in at the local skate park as well as pushing to get a childrens playground which they now have..

We have treated children and some adults totally free of charge to an outing to moree pools and just recently to a weeks holiday to the gold coast.

We Thank the people in town who have supported kates place. We have had to battle a business community who have retaliated against a new business in town. We have battled people who have been against us because we have a non judgemental attitude towards the indigenous. We have been sworn at, spat at, have dealt with graffiti and damage by a few individuals. ALL of which has caused undue stress and upset.

I wish you all well . I classify all that supported us as friends and we love you all. We will miss you and the beautiful smiling faces of your children.

Great opportunity by indigenous director. :)
