Vilma and Quince update
Vilma is doing well physically but she is very sad and wanting lots of cuddles.
Her baby girl Quince is getting stronger every hour. You can see how lovely and chubby she is getting! She is getting regular top-up syringe feeds but is able to suckle on Vilma for longer now.

Heartbreak at Lasair 💔

It’s been an incredibly tough few days, and we’re heartbroken to share that we’ve lost two of Vilma’s three little girls.

The severe weather over the weekend left us without power for 28 of the past 48 hours. As the pups began to weaken, we had no way to keep them warm, despite our pleas to the utility provider to restore power, much of the state was in the same situation.

The girls were simply too small and fragile to survive without external heat support. It’s devastating, and words don’t capture the sadness we feel.

Vilma and her one remaining little girl are holding on, and we’re doing everything we can to give her the best chance possible.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with kindness and support. Your messages mean the world during a time like this. Please keep Vilma and her tiny fighter in your thoughts. ❤️🐾

3am Feeds and Tiny Fighters 🍼🐾

After giving my wife a much-needed rest from sleeping in the whelping box with Vilma, I’ve been up through the night making sure the pups are fed every 30 minutes and kept warm. This is the life of a breeder, doing everything possible to give these little ones the best chance of life.

The girls are gaining in strength, but they are still not out of the woods yet. Every feed, every cuddle, and every warm blanket makes a difference. ❤️

It doesn’t stop when morning comes either, the workday still begins (thankfully I am WFH). Many people never see this side of breeding: the sleepless nights, the emotion, the heartbreak, and the incredible joy that comes from helping new life take hold.

Thank you all for your kind words and support, please keep Vilma and her girls in your thoughts. 🙏🐶💕

🐾❤️ Update on Vilma and Her Pups ❤️🐾

Thank you all so much for the kind messages and well wishes following the arrival of Vilma’s first puppy. Your support has meant the world to us.

Unfortunately, things took an unexpected turn. Vilma was in pre-term labour (four days early) and required an emergency caesarean section this morning. Despite our best efforts and that of our vet team, only three little girls survived. 💔

They are tiny and fragile, and the next week will be critical for their survival. 💗

Vilma is doing well and is resting and recovering. We are giving her and the pups round-the-clock care. Please continue to keep Vilma and her three little girls in your thoughts, we are hoping for the best for all of them. 💕💕
