It’s been a big week in the clinic, and Larni has been there every step of the way—jumping in to help without being asked, asking thoughtful questions, getting hands-on (and hands dirty!), and showing a genuine passion for learning about every aspect of the veterinary industry.

Your dedication, curiosity, and work ethic haven’t gone unnoticed, Larni. We’ve loved having you as part of the team this week and wish you all the best for what’s sure to be a bright future!

Everyone meet our Trainee Veterinary Nurse Rory 💕

Hi I’m Rory, I’m a Nurse at the Clinic. I’m Colac born and have lived here my whole life. I have a keen interest in surgical nursing and animal rehab where I have been working at an animal physiotherapy clinic in Melbourne as a Hydro-therapist.

My favourite dog breed is and why?
Staffies have a special place in my heart; they’re the most loving and loyal dogs ever. I also love any big dogs, the bigger the better!

My favourite food is?
Traditional Italian pizza and pasta or a good chicken Parma from the pub.

My favourite product in the clinic is?
Licki Mats!! They are a great way to keep your pets distracted while also providing them with enrichment.

My dream holiday is?
I already went on my dream holiday in 2024, I travelled to Namibia and volunteered as a nurse for 2 weeks, I would LOVE to do it again though.

My favourite outside of work activity?
I love musical theatre and have taken part in many red door productions; you may have seen me up on the Copacc stage before.

Meet our Winchelsea receptionist and trainee Veterinary Nurse Sally!

Hi, I’m Sally and I work at the Winchelsea Branch and enjoy the occasional shifts in Colac. I am studying Vet Nursing and love the variety and how much i am learning. I grew up in the Geelong area on a small farm and spent a few years living and working in northern WA, NT and QLD before settling back down here.

My favorite dog breed is?
I love the working breeds, in particular Kelpies and Blue Heelers. Our blue heeler is so loyal, protective and clever. Gus is always ½ step behind me and very protective of his family!

My favorite food is?
Tropical fruit, such as watermelon, pineapple, paw paw, mango orrr chocolate!

My favorite product in the clinic is?
Zydax offers relief to many dogs suffering arthritis and restores some youthful mobility for older dogs.

My dream holiday destination is?
Anywhere hot with a beach, pool and a good book. I also love the red dirt, blue skies and open spaces of the outback and exploring gorges and finding hidden swimming holes.

Favorite outside of work activity?
Spending time outside riding my horse or walking our dogs on the beach or in the bush with my family.

Meet Our Veterinary Nurse Mardi

Hi, I’m Mardi. I’m a Nurse here at the Clinic. I’m from Serpentine (VIC), where I grew up on a sheep and cropping farm. I have an interest in animal nutrition and I’m planning on furthering my studies and knowledge in that area.

My favourite Dog breed is?
Kelpies, I just love their energy and enthusiasm as I have one at home named Chase! But I do have a soft spot for all breeds

My Favourite Food is?
Stir-fry (Noodles) and CAKE!!

My favourite product in the clinic is?
4CYTE, it is created for Dogs and Cats to help target the underlaying causes that are associated with osteoarthritis and older age.

My dream holiday destination?
Africa is a destination I have wanted to visit for quite a while now! I finally booked the flights and I can’t wait to go there next year!!

Favourite outside of work activity?
I love reading and gardening. And I love to cook and bake including making cakes and treats for everyone at the clinic.

Introducing our wonderful Dr Evelyn Lyons!!

Hi, I’m Dr Evelyn Lyons, Senior Small Animal Veterinarian at Colac Vet Clinic.
Originally from Austria, I moved to Australia as a young child and have been part of Colac Vet Clinic since 1992. With a focus on Small Animal medicine and surgery, I have a special passion for veterinary acupuncture, enhancing the wellbeing of our furry friends.
When I’m not at the clinic I enjoy walking my dog, reformer Pilates and spending time at the beach Surf Life Saving.

My favourite:
Dog breed?
German Shepherds have a special place in my heart. Growing up with them, I’ve always admired their loyalty and intelligence
Cat breed?
I absolutely adore Bengals (especially my kitten Lolly) for their adventurous spirit and playful, mischievous nature!

My favourite food is?
This is a tough question as I don’t really have one favourite but I’m going to answer “honey”

My favourite product in the clinic is?
My favourite product in the clinic are our in-house blood and urine analysis machines. They provide reliable results in under 30 minutes, which is incredibly helpful for diagnosing and treating sick patients and handling emergencies efficiently.

My dream holiday?
Alaska – I’m captivated by its breathtaking landscapes and would love to go kayaking among the icebergs. And of course, see a bear and a moose!

Surf Life Saving

Everyone meet our Veterinary nurse Annie!!

Hi, I’m Annie, I’m a Registered Vet Nurse here at the Colac Vet Clinic. I grew up in Yuroke Vic, surrounded by horses, dogs and the odd cow or 2. It was a hobby farm with my parents, older sister and brother. After many years flying as Cabin Crew, I decided on a career change. Every day as a Vet nurse is a different day and is incredibly fulfilling.

My favorite dog breed is?
Dachshunds closely followed by whippets, I have only ever had one as a pup but have rehomed several over the years. They get under your skin and become family. My current Daxies are Romy and Kramer, and my beautiful whippet Hughy.

My favorite Food is?
There are too many to mention!!

My favorite product in the clinic is?
Delicate Care, dental treats that are odor reducing. Can confirm, they work!!

My dream holiday destination is?
African Safari on horseback.

Favorite outside of work activity?
I ride my pleasure horse Kenny along with my husband who is learning to ride! Off to Africa we go sometime soon!!

Meet Jenni who brings her own kind of magic to the team!!

Hi everyone, I’m Jenni. I’m am the Administrator and a Vet Nurse for Colac Vet Clinic. I have been a part of the team here for 25 years. I’m a 3rd-4th generation Birregurrian. I am passionate about animal comfort and wellbeing whilst in the clinic.

My favorite dog breed is and why?
Labrador, because they are loony, friendly but protective, very loyal, great family dogs. The black ones are my favorite.

My favorite food is?
Char grilled juicy scotch fillet with garlic butter, chips and veggies.

My favorite product in the clinic is?
Adaptil and Feliway. Proven to eliminate dog and cat stress at the clinic, at home or when bringing a new pet home. It’s available in collars, sprays and plug ins. It really does work!!

My dream holiday destination is?
Cotswolds in England, or anywhere in England actually.

Favorite outside of work activity?
Spending time with my family and friends. Being outside, I have to be outside! I love gardening, reading, horse riding and being with my pets. I also love going to the ballet and theatre, or anything dance related.

With mixed emotions and heavy hearts, we would like to let everyone know today will be Dr. Alice Arnolds last day with us at the Colac Vet Clinic.

Alice has been an invaluable member of our team, bringing enthusiasm to everything she does, exceptional veterinary skills to our pracitce and the Colac community, a love for our patients and clients that goes above and beyond, and her new contributions that have left an indelible mark on our clinic.
Whilst we are sad to see Alice go, we are extremely excited and thrilled for her as she embarks on her new professional adventure in the United Kingdom.

Today is Rhonda Mitchell’s last day before she welcomes semi-retirement. 💕
Rhonda who has been a constant and reliable presence at front reception is taking a step back into part time work, joining us only on a Friday going forward.

From everyone in the team here at Colac Vet Clinic, we can’t thank her enough for her tireless and reliable care and service.
From being all the clients’ first touch point with each phone call and visit, to her being the glue keeping everything together and our days running smoothly.
You will be greatly missed throughout the week Rhonda whilst we hope you enjoy having a change in pace throughout your life going forward! 🌟
